THE WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network) is also known as mobile cellular network. They are the most common wireless networks, since all cell phones are connected to an extended wireless network. This standard received the name of WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) offering Wi-Fi connections for home, business and hotspot use, through only one linear point.
The main technologies used in WWAN networks are GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication), GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System – Universal System Mobile Telecommunications).
