Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, provided more information on the OnePlus 8T screen to our colleagues at TechRadar. This should be one of the best screens of 2020.
OnePlus has chosen to unveil its smartphone ahead of time, by giving journalists parts of the technical sheet, and by giving clues concerning new features, such as faster, more efficient charging.
According to TechRadar, Pete Lau has confirmed that the flat screen of its OnePlus 8T was going to be equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate, like the OnePlus 8 Pro. Additionally, Lau confirmed that the OnePlus 8T will use a flexible 2.5D screen, another first for the company. ” Compared with ordinary panels, the 2.5D flexible screen offers better light permeability and can achieve a maximum brightness of 1100 nits. Lau said. This corresponds to the screen brightness of the OnePlus 8, which we were able to test. It’s a little less bright than the OnePlus 8 Pro, but more than enough for all users.
He also added that the company has tested and calibrated the OnePlus 8T’s display rigorously and claimed that it will offer the highest possible color accuracy in any industry. Lau claims that OnePlus “ put the displays through the same rigorous color calibration process as the OnePlus 8 series and achieved a color fidelity (JNCD) of around 0.3. ».
The screen should also take up more space on the front panel, with a impressive 91.9% screen-to-body ratio, compared to 90.8% on the OnePlus 8 Pro. The screen would have already been tested by the experts at DisplayMate, and would have obtained the maximum A + rating.
Improved fast charging is confirmed
The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro have to be content with a 30W fast charge when some of its competitors already have a lot more, like the OPPO Find X2 that we were able to test, which has a 65W fast charge. OPPO, Xiaomi, Vivo and Realme have even announced fast recharges to over 120W.
OnePlus launched a page for the OnePlus 8T on its website, showing what appears to be a render of the company’s Warp Charge powering a pair of batteries. A dual charging system is a project OPPO has been working on with its SuperVOOC charging technology.
The 4500 mAh of the OnePlus 8T would therefore not be contained in one battery, but two batteries, which would allow OnePlus to offer fast charging of at least 65W. As a reminder, the OPPO Find X2 only puts 35 minutes to recharge from 0 to 100%. The OnePlus 8T will be presented on October 14 and could be cheaper than the OnePlus 8 when it is released.
