Just like the previous leaked information, Vivo announced the 120W fast charging technology at MWC Shanghai, China. It is officially called Vivo Super FlashCharge 120W and is the world's fastest charging technology.
Back in March 2019, Xiaomi announced 100W fast charging technology but it hasn't been integrated on any of its smartphones yet. As for Vivo, they have 44W Quick Charge on Vivo iQOO smartphone, the company's fastest charging technology to date.
Now, the new Super FlashCharge 120W charging technology can provide a maximum output of 20V at 6A. According to Vivo, Super FlashCharge technology can charge smartphones with 4,000mAh battery from 0% to 50% in just 5 minutes and take a total of 13 minutes to fully charge 100%.
Like any proprietary charging solution, Vivo Super FlashCharge 120W is only available when the device is powered by a custom adapter and a Type-C USB cable provided by the company. Like OPPO's VOOC Charge and OnePlus's Warp Charge, Vivo will also replace the voltage reducing circuit with the micro controller (MCU). MCU will be placed inside the charger and protect the device from voltage overload.
It also addresses the hot issue that often occurs while charging any device as seen with the existing Dual Engine fast charging technology. And yet, the battery management system (BMS) will ensure battery charging balance to provide long battery life. Two-channel ICs are used for optimal energy management. In addition to this fast charging technology, Vivo is said to be talking about the company's first 5G smartphone that will be available in the third quarter of 2019.
