Vietnamese fencing players competing internationally infected with Covid-19 Covid

A player of the Vietnamese fencing team tested positive for Covid-19 after returning home.

The Vietnamese fencing team has a positive case of Covid-19 after returning home from duty. On April 22, the Vietnamese fencing team left for Uzbekistan to compete in the Tokyo Olympic qualifying round. After that, the team returned on April 29.

However, due to problems in check-in, the flight was rescheduled to May 7. The players returned home and were isolated at a location in Ho Chi Minh City.

Recently, after taking tests of 6 members of the fencing team, one was found positive for Covid-19. This player has been taken to isolation in accordance with regulations to ensure medical work.

Lao newspaper reported that the members of the fencing team received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. However, the player with the other positive test sample was not given the injection due to the near departure date. But now, the player’s health is recovering well.

The Olympic fencing tournament does not require individual vaccinations to participate.
