The World Tennis Federation has chosen Vietnam as the host of the Davis Cup in the Asia-Pacific region.
On February 22, the Vietnam Tennis Federation confirmed that ITF has decided to select Vietnam as the host country for the Davis Cup group III tournament in the Asia-Pacific region.
The tournament was held from June 16 to June 19 at Hai Dang Tennis Club, Tay Ninh. Competing teams include: Hong Kong, Syria, Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, Pacific Oceania, Malaysia and Vietnam.
At the event in 2018 at My Dinh Hanoi Athletics Palace, Vietnam Tel won the championship without losing any round. However, in 2019, the ITF, due to a change in the Davis Cup format, forced Vietnam Tel to play again in Group III in Singapore and the players of Vietnam Tel had completed their promotion to Group II. Asia / Pacific region in 2020 when winning the championship excellently after 4 victories.
In 2020, Vietnam Tel will compete to be promoted to World Group II. However, Vietnam Tel lost 0-4 to Morroco in the play round-off takes place from March 6 to 7, 2020 in Morroco and must compete in group III in the Asia / Pacific region in 2021 in order to aim at the world group II promotion by 2022.

Currently, the Vietnamese players are still in the training phase, and around May 2021, the final list of four Davis Cup athletes will be officially announced.
