Your Wi-Fi is experiencing hiccups: slowdowns, interrupted video conferencing, hatched voices, etc. Before complaining to your Internet service provider, follow these 5 tips in order to improve your Wi-Fi network.
1. Measure the vitesse of your connection
Go to fast.com or speedtest.net. These sites tell you, among other things, the download speed.
You can then determine if the following steps improve your Wi-Fi network.
2. Restartez all
Turn off all devices connected to your router: tablet, mobile phone, computer, speaker, etc.
Then, disconnect the power to the router before resetting the modem. If it doesn’t have a reset button, unplug it about a minute before plugging it back in.
Reconnect the router, then turn your electronics back on.
3. Displacementez the router
The router should be in a central room of the house.
Also place the router high up and in an open place so that the waves cross as few obstacles as possible.
4. Change bSpirit
Most routers can transmit on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
For optimum speed, connect devices near the router to the 5 GHz band. Connect the farthest ones on the 2.4 GHz band.
5. Change the position ofantennas
The waves propagate perpendicular to the antennas of your router.
In a two-story house, tilt one or two antennas to make the waves travel vertically.
And if your router is over three years old, it might just be time to replace it.
