Dell Precision 5760 owns a minimalist and neutral design language, suitable for all different professional working environments. With square edges, the laptop’s exterior is finished in a shiny silver tone.

Open the laptop, you will see inside is a spacious body area, with 2 speaker strips placed in the middle of the keyboard. The device is equipped with a 17-inch diagonal screen, surrounded by an ultra-thin bezel.

With a 3-sided measurement of 14.7 x 9.7 x 0.4 inches and a weight of 2.5 kg, the Precision 5760 is a relatively bulky model. For comparison, the machine looks similar to Gigabyte Aero 17 HDR (15.6 x 10.6 x 0.9 inches), MSI Creator Z16 (14.1 x 10.1 x 0.6 inches).

Users can quickly log in to the system account via the power button integrated with the fingerprint sensor on the body, or use the face recognition feature with the webcam.

The Precision 5760 version that we use in the review is equipped with a 17-inch diagonal screen with a resolution of 3840 x 2400 pixels. Every image on the screen is displayed in a sharp and vibrant way. The screen is divided into 16:10 aspect ratio and occupies 94% of the body area, providing users with an immersive visual experience.

In our test, the Precision 5760’s screen is capable of covering 136.8% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, far exceeding the current high-end laptop segment average of 91.9%. Among the group of machines compared, only ZBook Studio G8 is capable of displaying more vibrant colors, with a result of 142.5%, followed by Gigabyte Aero 17 HDR (122.4%) and MSI Z16 (114.1%).

In the brightness test, the Precision 5760’s screen has an average brightness of 463 nits, just enough to surpass the segment average (458 nits). The Gigabyte Aero is the winner of this test, with an impressive screen brightness index of 468 nits, followed by the ZBook with a result of 464 nits.

Owning a body with a large area, the Precision 5760 has enough space on the body, helping you comfortably rest your hand while working with the keyboard. The keyboard’s buttons have deep travel and provide good bounce when pressed down, allowing me to comfortably work for long periods of time.

The touchpad of the device is located just below the keyboard, located in the middle of the body. The touchpad has a spacious surface area, allowing me to easily control the mouse pointer to interact with different applications on the Windows 10 operating system.

Dell Precision 5760: Performance

The Precision 5760 version we used is equipped with an Intel Core i7-11850H chip, 32GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD. The machine has impressive multitasking ability, allowing me to open 50 Chrome tabs at the same time, including 5 tabs that play YouTube videos without any lag.

In the overall performance test with Geekbench 5.4, the Precision 5760 scored 8601, leaving far behind the workstation laptop average (7718 points). Gigabyte Aero is the laptop with the highest score in this test, with a recorded result of 9484 points. Following is the ZBook Studio G8 with a score of 9035, while the Creator Z16 has a slightly worse record of 7335 points.

The Precision 5760 finished converting a 4K video to 1080 with the HandBrake app in just 6 minutes 42 seconds. This time is faster than the segment average (9 minutes 26 seconds). Once again, Gigabyte Aero 17 won with an impressive result of 5 minutes 59 seconds.

The Precision 5760’s 2TB SSD performed well on our data exchange rate test. Specifically, the machine can finish copying a 25GB file in just 22 seconds, equivalent to an average data write speed of 1225 MBps. This result is faster than the segment average (31 seconds).

Dell Precision 5760: Graphics processing capabilities

The Precision 5760 is equipped with an Nvidia RTX A3000 graphics card with 6GB of VRAM. The machine has good graphics processing capabilities, allowing me to perform image and video editing tasks without experiencing any lag.

Testing the machine’s graphics processing capabilities with the game Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: Gathering Storm (1080p), the Precision 5760 achieved an average frame rate of 93 fps when played at Medium configuration. Pushing the resolution to 4K, the average frame rate that the machine can maintain is reduced to 79 fps.

Using 3DMark’s Fire Strike test to test graphics processing capabilities, the Precision 5760 scored 15521, surpassing the segment average of 11594 points.

Dell Precision 5760: Battery life

Most workstation laptops on the market usually have a battery life that is not too long, fortunately Dell has partially overcome this weakness with the Precision 5760 series.

In our battery life test, the Precision 5760 managed to last 8 hours and 10 minutes after continuous web surfing over wifi, with the screen brightness set at 150 nits. This battery life result is slightly shorter than the premium laptop segment average (8 hours 28 minutes).

Dell Precision 5760: Heat dissipation

Throughout our tests, the Precision 5760 always maintained a stable heat level, causing no discomfort to the hand.

In our test, specifically after letting the machine run 1 HD video for 15 minutes, the chassis area recorded a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius. This temperature is within the stable temperature threshold of 35. degrees Celsius, ensuring a comfortable use experience for users. In the center of the keyboard and touchpad, there is also a better temperature, measured at 31 and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively.
