Travis Scott lays a completely WTF commercial for the PlayStation 5

With its status as a “creative and strategic partner” for PlayStation 5, Travis Scott cracked a strange advertisement for the new machine from Sony. Weird ads are not a first for Sony, which called on David Lynch to illustrate the release of the PlayStation 2 in a small film in line with the image we have of the director.

But in the video of Travis Scott, it’s not so much the staged universe that is weird as the film itself. Program of about ten minutes, the film begins in a fairly classic way, with the rapper on a DIY armchair, in the desert, facing a giant screen which will show him a montage of the trailers of the games announced for the Sony console.

Until then, nothing less than what is expected from an advertisement. Then, Scott puts himself in scene in a sequence a little reality TV, where he goes “by surprise” to offer PS5 and some selfies to young people taken at random in the street. We then continue with a mini concert by James Blake, alone at the piano. Why this musical interlude? Why James Blake and not Scott himself? History will not tell … Then, the following sequence will be a tribute to Pop Smoke, rapper assassinated last February. Touching, probably, but we are still looking for the link with the release of the PlayStation 5

Surprising patchwork, Travis Scott clearly had carte blanche for his film. Unconvincing, the whole thing still lacks consistency, and video game: only about 2 minutes of the 10 minutes and 30 seconds of film …

Beyond this video, the rapper also designed Nike Dunk Low in the colors of PlayStation. To obtain them, however, it will be more or less an impossible mission: produced in only 5 copies, the sneakers are not for sale but to be won in a contest reserved for residents of the United States … Infuriating, especially as the sneakers, unlike the video, were particularly successful!
