According to Bloomberg sources, Apple partners plan to assemble new low-cost iPhones in February 2020, clearing the way for high-end 5G-enabled iPhones to launch in the second half of the year.
A source revealed that Apple will officially introduce the new iPhone in March 2020. The equipment assembly is divided to three partners, namely Hon Hai, Pegatron and Wistron. This is the first cheap iPhone model since the iPhone SE. It looks similar to 2017’s iPhone 8 and uses a 4.7-inch screen. The iPhone 8 is still selling for $ 449, while the iPhone SE costs $ 399 when it was first sold in 2016.
Smartphone will feature Touch ID fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button instead of using the fingerprint sensor embedded in the screen as most other modern Android phones. It also doesn’t have Face ID biometric authentication but will use the chip found in Apple’s 2019 flagship.
Cheap iPhones are extremely popular with users, including the iPhone 11 with a retail price of $ 50 lower than usual. Strong demand for iPhones led Apple to ask TSMC to produce more chips in the first quarter of 2020. High-end iPhone launched in the second half of the year will support 5G, faster chip, new 3D camera on the back.
Cheap iPhones will help Apple compete better in price-sensitive and fast-growing markets, especially India. The company expects iPhone sales to grow again during the year, aiming to sell more than 200 million devices. The successor to the iPhone SE will play an important role in this task.
