Relatives of a man murdered with a stab in September 2019 said they were more than troubled when they learned this week that the alleged murderer had posted a video online recounting a few snippets of her journey since her arrest.
“Accused of murder in the 2nd degree, at my first arrest, five hours to be filmed while being questioned, the investigator who said to me: ‘You must be a real one, you, because you do not say a sound” “, sings Mélissa Webb, accused of the second degree murder of David Frigon, to a rap tune.
Kept in pre-trial detention for eight months, the young 26-year-old woman says: “I arrived in Orsainville, were able to endure me, they sent me to Leclerc, it was the maximum that classified me. . Without really knowing what to expect, I had to fight for my respect ”.
In October 2020, the judges of the Court of Appeal agreed to release Webb on bail. Among the conditions issued, she was to remain 24 hours a day in a therapy home in the Eastern Townships and was prohibited from communicating with members of the victim’s family.
If the video does not seem to violate this rule, the relatives of the murdered man were still deeply disturbed by this “composition” which they describe as “very bad taste”.
“She mentions there that she makes“ artisan picks ”. It seems that his accusation is not enough to give him remorse, ”added our source, wondering why Webb had access to social networks and cellphones.
Asked about the situation, an official at the therapy house explained that an outbreak of COVID-19 forced management to confine all residents. In doing so, they had “exceptional” access to cellphones and the network. Made aware of the video, the workers educated the resident, questioned her judgment and had a sincere thought for the victim’s family.
“But at the moment, it’s difficult for us to know what everyone is doing in their room or what some are posting on the internet …” he added, specifying that he understood the distress of David Frigon’s family .
According to our sources, an investigation is currently open to the Police Department of Quebec City to determine if new charges in connection with this video could be brought against Webb and the head of the therapy house assured that they would collaborate.
Extracts from the composition of Mélissa Webb
In closed therapy following a 2nd degree murder charge against David Frigon, Mélissa Webb released a rap telling her story on social media, which shocked the victim’s family.
Put me back in the cell, I keep silent […] Change of plan, are made two [enquêteurs] now. Ben obstinate, they say “we know that it is you who killed him”.
Have tried everything [les enquêteurs] to make me talk. Without success, looking at me in frustration. They say to me: “you know, you are going to be imprisoned”.
[En détention] I had to fight for my respect. The screws want to understand nothing. I can’t wait to have the peace of mind.
I got caught the other time doing artisanal peaks (sic). I was asked why: it must be because I live in a cage.
