XPG Xenia 15 is a gaming laptop with a relatively simple and neutral design, with a compact appearance and professional interior details. Aesthetically, XPG Xenia 15 is surface-finished with the main color tone being jet black. The air vent systems of the machine are located on the back edge, 2 sides and on the bottom, all of which are cut in equal squares or rectangles.

Open the laptop to reveal inside a 15.6-inch screen and a mechanical keyboard on the body. The screen of the machine is wrapped in a fairly thin frame, while the buttons of the keyboard are about 2mm high above the surface of the body.

The connection ports of the device are divided equally for the two sides and the back. Starting from the left edge, XPG Xenia 15 is equipped with 2 separate 3.5 mm jacks for headphones and microphone, 1 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port. Meanwhile, on the right side there are two more USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports and a 2-in-1 SD card reader.

XPG Xenia 15 is equipped with the previous generation chip Intel Core i7-9750H and Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti series of graphics cards. The version of the device that we used in the review is also equipped with 32GB of RAM.

The overall performance level of the machine is quite good, allowing us to play the game Far Cry: New Dawn (Ultra configuration, 1920 x 1080p) with an average frame rate of 80 fps. This result surpasses the frame rate of competing laptops like the Dell G3 15 (53 fps) and HP Pavilion Gaming 15 (62 fps). Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is the only laptop in the comparison group that achieves a frame rate close to when compared to the Xenia 15, with the result recorded in the same game of 73 fps.

XPG Xenia 15 continues to achieve good results in Grand Theft Auto V, with an average frame rate of 63 fps when played at Very High configuration settings, 1080p resolution. The above results are far behind the frame rate achieved by the Dell G3 15 (38 fps) and the HP Pavilion (56 fps).

Continuing the test with the game Shadow of the Tomb Raider (Highest configuration, 1080p), the machine achieved an average frame rate of 48 fps, equal to the results that Zephyrus (49 fps) and Pavilion (46 fps) achieve.

XPG Xenia 15: Performance

Thanks to a minimalist design and high level of performance, you can bring XPG Xenia 15 to work in the office. The machine possesses very good multitasking ability. Specifically, when Steam is running the update, I can still surf the web smoothly with a total of 30 different tabs. The machine’s cooling fan system did not make much noise during the test, which is a plus point for a gaming laptop.

Using Geekbench 5.0 to score overall performance, XPG Xenia 15 achieved an impressive result of 6301 points. This result is higher than the Dell G3 15 (4119 points) and HP Pavilion Gaming 15 (5107 points). Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is the laptop model with the highest score in this test, with a recorded result of 7895 points.

The above ranking was repeated in our data exchange speed test. In this test, we will measure the time it takes each machine to successfully copy a file weighing 4.97GB. Xenia 15 completed the task in 9 seconds, equivalent to an average data exchange rate of 727 MBps. This speed is much faster than the results obtained by the Dell G3 15 (299 MBps) and Pavilion 15 (566 MBps). However, Zephyrus once again took the win with an impressive result of 1272 Mbps.

Xenia 15 did quite well in the video transcoding speed test with the HandBrake app. In this test, the machine needed 9 minutes and 1 second to complete the conversion of a 4K video to 1080p resolution. This result is faster than the completion time of the Dell G3 (14 minutes 2 seconds) and Pavilion 15 (11 minutes 30 seconds).

The XPG Xenia 15 version that we review is equipped with an IPS screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080p, a frequency of 144Hz, providing good image quality when watching movies as well as when playing games.

Through our testing, the XPG Xenia 15’s screen is capable of covering 71% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and has an average brightness level of 298 nits. This result is more impressive when compared to the Dell G3 15 (45%, 272 nit) and HP Pavilion 15 (46%, 253 nit). However, ROG Zephyrus once again won with the ability to cover 83% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and have an average brightness of 323 nit.

XPG Xenia 15 has the same battery life as other gaming laptops on the market. In our test, the device lasted 6 hours and 34 minutes after surfing the web continuously using wifi network, with screen brightness set at 150 nit.

This level of battery life is slightly shorter than the Dell G3 15 (6 hours 41 minutes) and longer than the HP Pavilion 15 (5 hours 26 minutes). Once again, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 takes first place in the comparison group with an impressive battery life of 11 hours and 32 minutes.

XPG Xenia 15: Heat dissipation

The XPG Xenia 15’s heatsink was quiet and efficient throughout the test, with parts that your hands directly touched being kept at a steady temperature.

After letting the machine stream a 15-minute video, the touchpad area of ​​the device had a recorded temperature of 25.8 degrees Celsius. At the center of the keyboard, the temperature was slightly higher, with the results recorded. is 31.5 degrees Celsius. The machine has the highest temperature of 39.7 degrees Celsius, measured at the position of the heat sink slot on the underside of the body.
