What if the Nintendo Switch hosted a compilation of Zelda games this year? Nintendo already did this last year with Super Mario 3D All-Stars. This new compilation could include Phantom Hourglass, The Wind Waker and even Ocarina of Time.
The Nintendo Switch is a great way to revisit the most popular games from previous generations of consoles. The Japanese firm knows it well and it could be preparing a surprise for all Zelda fans this year. And for good reason, the franchise celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2021.
In 2020, to mark the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., Nintendo launched a collection of sneakers in collaboration with Puma and the game. Super Mario 3D All-Stars, a compilation of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy. By the way, a Super Mario 3D All-Stars player just noticed that an easter egg from the original Donkey Kong was hidden in the Super Mario 64 intro for 25 years.
What games would they be part of the Zelda compilation besides The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass?
In addition to the high likelihood that Nintendo will celebrate the occasion with a compilation of Zelda games, the Japanese firm has registered “Phantom Hourglass” as a trademark in Australia. User Okami shared a screenshot of the document on Twitter, adding that: ” The Phantom Hourglass trademark has been registered in Australia, supporting the theory that a Zelda 35th anniversary remaster pack will arrive on Switch this year ».
Additionally, Okami shared an image with the different graphical representations of Link over the years and the inscription “35”. This obviously reinforces the idea that Nintendo is revisiting one of the most popular franchises of all time on its hybrid console whose sales have already exceeded those of the 3DS.
It is important to remember The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass was released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS. If the game is part of a compilation this year, it will surely be a remake to breathe new life into it. Players also expect to see the portage of The Legend of Zelda : The Wind Waker HD which was released on the Wii U in 2013. There may also be a port of Ocarina of Time 3D released in 2011 on the Nintendo 3DS and other games that have marked gamers.
Finally, it can also just be a trademark renewal and there is no Zelda compilation in the works. Anyway, we should know more soon. Moreover, a remake of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl is also expected for this year.
