Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei, today unveiled the Honor 9X and 9X Pro duo, the latest two mid-range smartphones. The highlight of the duo comes from being equipped with a new 810 7nm Kirin chip that was launched last month by Huawei, promising outstanding performance, especially in its ability to handle AI in the mid-range segment.
In terms of design, both the Honor 9X and 9X Pro possess a complete glass design. This is also the first smartphone series of Honor to use selfie camera design "unfold". Both are equipped with a 6.59 inch OLED Full HD + screen with thin screen edges. Unfortunately, this screen does not have a fingerprint sensor integrated into the side.
The main difference between the Honor 9X versions comes from the camera and memory capacity. With the regular version, users will only have a 48MP + 2MP dual camera cluster to measure depth. Meanwhile the Pro version will have 3 cameras including an 8MP wide-angle camera. Both selfie cameras have a resolution of 16MP f / 2.2.
As mentioned above, both the Honor 9X and 9X Pro will be equipped with the new Kirin 810 chip. This is the second 7nm chip launched by Huawei. According to Huawei, with Kirin 810 and separate AI processors, mid-range devices will be able to handle outstanding AI tasks, even higher than the flagship chips coming from rivals like Qualcomm Snapdragon 855.
The Honor 9X will be sold with 4 / 6GB RAM and 64 / 128GB memory storage, with 3 colors blue, red and black; while the Pro version will have 8GB and 128 / 256GB of memory, sold in two colors, purple and black. Both are available on Android 9 Pie platform with EMUI interface 9. Both batteries have 4000mAh capacity.
