Keysight Technologies just announced that the LSI systems division of Samsung Electronics, a leader in the global semiconductor and 5G technology market, has selected Keysight’s 5G test platforms to establish data connectivity. 5G is based on the specification of the 3GPP standard version 16 (Rel-16).
Samsung selected Keysight’s 5G network emulation solutions to successfully demonstrate data link establishment based on the 3GPP Rel-16 specification for the new 5G radio standard (NR). Completed in 2020, version 16 has significantly enhanced 5G NR, improved spectrum efficiency, reduced network latency, and enhanced connection reliability. These innovative features are essential for machine-to-machine (M2M) communication in industrial automation, self-driving vehicles, and improving service provider operational efficiency.
Cao Peng, Keysight’s Vice President and General Manager of Radio Testing said, “We are delighted to support Samsung’s strategic 5G technology goals with our chipset-driven test solutions. with integrated software and instrumentation testing solutions to validate new designs to the latest 3GPP specifications across the entire protocol stack Keysight is committed to providing testing platforms for businesses leading 5G industry like Samsung to accelerate the commercialization of 5G devices and networks.”
Samsung used Keysight’s 5G protocol research and development toolkit and test application software to confirm the modem chip modem compatibility of the modem manufacturer Exynos, the chipset used by many global device manufacturers. to bring 5G products to market. This kit allows Samsung to test 3GPP Rel-16’s (IODT) physical layer interoperability development, verify IODT’s power-saving performance, and confirm new radio conformance with dual radio connectivity (NRDC), in the sub-7GHz (FR1) and mmWave (FR2) spectrums.
“We are delighted to be partnering with important partners like Keysight, as Keysight’s test tools have been recognized by the industry,” said Jonghan Kim, Vice President of System LSI protocol development at Samsung Electronics. Equipment manufacturers across the ecosystem confidently use to verify new designs. Thanks to Keysight’s comprehensive 5G testing tools, we can rapidly develop successful commercial 5G solutions. , bringing exciting new mobile experiences.”
Through more than ten years of cooperation, Keysight and Samsung have achieved several important milestones, including successful validation of dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) technology used in 5G modems.
