Claude Bigras pleaded guilty Monday to the voyeurism charges against him and was sentenced to 10 months in prison.

The 61-year-old man was arrested in mid-April after being filmed by a surveillance camera watching an 11-year-old girl sleeping in his bed in a residential neighborhood in Saint-Jérôme.

The broadcast of the camera’s images on social media by the girl’s mother quickly identified Claude Bigras as the suspect in this case.

“He’s a dangerous criminal, this guy,” said Rose-Marie Leblanc, the victim’s mother, in a telephone interview.

“The 10 month sentence he received was not much. (…) He has no regrets, no remorse. The longer this man stays in prison, the safer society will be, “added Ms. Leblanc.

The media coverage of this story of voyeurism led two other alleged victims to come forward to the authorities, said Thursday the Saint-Jérôme police.

According to our information, these are two adult women.

A total of seven new counts of sexual assault and sexual exploitation were laid against Claude Bigras.

The authorities, however, declined to provide further details as to the circumstances of these alleged crimes.

Bigras, 61, has a very heavy legal history. He has no less than sixty criminal records to his credit. His first conviction dates back as far as 1977, when he was only 19 years old.
