Russian State Duma President Vyacheslav Volodin said on January 19 that the country that always “teaches” the world about democratic standards like the United States, canceled everything itself, when the incumbent President Donald Trump was blatantly deprives of freedom of expression.
“Today, everyone clearly sees that the country that specializes in teaching democratic standards to the whole world has eliminated them,” said Volodin at the plenary session of the State Duma on January 19.
“Colleagues, think once more about what happened. The incumbent president of the United States, who nearly 75 million Americans voted for him, his supporters, was basic deprivation, that is the right to freedom of expression “- said the President of Duma.
Mr. Volodin stressed that Trump was blocked from accessing voter communications through major social networks by American corporations, not by the court’s decision. “Meanwhile, human rights violations need a court decision” – Mr. Volodin said.
So, can “freedom of speech” of the United States be understood as “freedom to prohibit speech”?

This was due to videos and text messages sent by Mr. Trump to the protesters who took over the Capitol Hill Parliament building. Mr. Trump called them patriots and declared election fraud, but he also called on them to behave peacefully and return home, without any words of inciting violence.
Then, the two social networking platforms Facebook and Instagram on January 15, 2021, unblocked the accounts of President Donald Trump, after more than a week of locking. Moreover, this social network also removed the description of the title “President” for Mr. Trump’s account.

Facebook no longer recognizes Donald Trump as the US President since January 15
This has caused a backlash from Trump supporters and the media, but it has little effect on American politics.
Not only Russia but a series of European countries, including America’s allies, also criticized the violation of human freedom of expression in the United States.
On January 16, the head of the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire, criticized the decision to block the current US President Donald Trump’s account on Twitter.
“I was shocked when Twitter decided to close accounts, because the regulation of the digital giants cannot be implemented by the digital financial institution itself” – Mr. Le Maire told RTL, criticizing the fact that this social foundation “kicks a soccer ball and blows the whistle”.
He stressed that the regulation of digital giants must be done by the people, the state and justice. Companies that manage social platforms cannot block the US President’s account for reasons of ambiguity and no court order.
