Detailed review of Oppo A15 phone

Although it is a cheap phone, its appearance is not as cheap as its price. It is true that it is finished in plastic but it looks quite sophisticated and resembles the current mid-range style with the square camera block on the back.

On the front is a screen that takes up 83% of the body, which is a rather subtle waterdrop-style LCD. The side and top edges are very thin, and its chin is a bit thick. Of course, you can’t ask for border overflow with a cheap phone, right?

Above we have a waterdrop notch in the middle of the screen. It houses the selfie camera along with some sensors here. On the top is your speakerphone strip, it is quite thin and is located between the screen and the chassis, so it is very less noticeable =)

The back as said, it is finished in plastic and you will have 2 colors to choose from: dynamic black and mysterious blue.

Oppo A15 Review

The most prominent on the back is the square camera cluster in the upper left corner. There are only 3 lenses here, the 4th “eye” is the LED light. In general, the design is quite beautiful and catches the trend very well. The fingerprint sensor is located here with fast and accurate unlocking. Although it unlocks not as fast as high-end models, it does its job well.

The remaining edges cạnh

The chassis is made of plastic and it finishes in sync with the back color. Although it is not as sturdy as the metal frame, it does not have to worry about distortion and feels lighter in the hand.

On the left side we will have a sim tray with 2 sim card positions and an independent memory card position. So you don’t need to have a headache when you have to consider using 2 sims and expanding the memory. The right side remains as usual the power button along with the volume key. They have good bounce and function very well.

The top edge of the machine is completely empty. But the bottom edge has a lot of things. That is the charging slot, the main microphone, the 3.5mm audio jack along with the external speaker. Unfortunately, it is a single external speaker and the charging slot is also micro USB.

Oppo A15 aims to be entertainment and social networking for everyone. Therefore, it has a large screen up to 6.52 inches for a pretty good experience. This screen’s colors are fairly well balanced and it’s relatively bright. Brightness measured at 480nits.

Oppo A15 Review

This screen has only 720p resolution, which means you can’t view 1080p FHD content. They will be cut down to 720p and it won’t be the same as the original 1080p content.

Talking high refresh rate with cheap phones is absurd. But recently there has been Poco X3 NFC that has a 120Hz refresh rate, then surely the future of low-cost phones will have. However this is the present and this Oppo A15 does not have this.

Oppo A15 ships with Android 10 operating system along with ColorOS 7.2 interface. In general, this duo gives you a pretty smooth experience. But sometimes you will find the arrangement interface a bit cluttered.

This software is also a bit annoying when you can’t uninstall apps on the home screen. But you have to go to the directory to perform the removal. Many of you do not know that just downloading and then not being able to remove the full memory and heavy machine.

Performance evaluation of Oppo A15

Oppo A15 is only modest with Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 processor (12nm) of quite a few years ago. Although it can be said that a cheap phone cannot claim a very powerful chipset, the P35 is really weak. It is much weaker than competitors at this price point.

Its multi-core score on Geekbench 5 is only 840 while competitors in this price range are much higher.

  • Oppo A5 2020 uses Snapdragon 665 and it reaches 1,301 points
  • Nokia 3.4 also has up to 1,188 points

Those are just examples. Many other products are much more delicious. Of course, the parameters on the benchmark do not confirm anything, but it can give us a reference right?

In practice, we can see the same thing. The phone often lags when used, moreover, don’t think about playing games because it is only suitable for old 2d games. Switching between applications also has a high latency, multitasking is also weak due to RAM limitations.

Oppo A15 is designed with a set of 3 rear cameras and a selfie camera:

  • Main camera 13 MP, f/2.2, (wide), 1/3.1, 1.12µm, PDAF
  • 2 MP, f/2.4 . macro camera
  • 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth) depth sensor
  • selfie camera 5 MP, f/2.4, (wide)

The special thing is that it is equipped with a macro camera but does not use an ultra-wide-angle camera. Is it possible that the quality of the ultra-wide-angle camera at the cheap price is limited?

Main camera

The main camera takes pretty good pictures for this price. Oppo’s algorithms catch colors quite naturally, but it still has a lot of noise and the amount of detail is not too high. Generally used for social networks or commemorative photos.

In low light conditions, there is still a night mode to support. However, the image exposure is not significantly increased.

Macro camera

You get a 2MP macro lens here and of course no autofocus and its focusing distance is 4cm. Actually, I do not like this lens very much because the image quality received is quite poor. It doesn’t have a lot of detail, it’s quite blurry and the colors are faded

Front camera

The selfie camera is also not much better. The received image will reduce your skin tone and make it lose its vitality. It’s not very good to take pictures in general =)

Battery life

Oppo A15 is equipped with a 4230 mAh Li-Po battery, which provides excellent power for a phone in this price range. In general, this battery is enough for you to use comfortably throughout the day. Not playing games, only surfing the web, social networks, listening to calls is more than enough.

You will have to accept the micro USB charging port with slow charging and data transfer speeds. This is an outdated charging technology and it’s hard to find now =)

It does not support fast charging, but only 10W standard charging. That means you will have to wait quite a while for a full charge.

Compare with competitors

No matter how good or how cheap your phone is, there is always competition in the market. And so is this Oppo A15, we also have quite a few other options at the same price.

The first is the Nokia 3.4 with a nicer punch-hole finish but a bit smaller screen. The Snapdragon 460 (11 nm) chipset is much more stable at this price range. Also equipped with a 3-camera set, but it has an ultrawide camera instead of a macro. Rechargeable batteries are also similar.

Oppo A5 2020 is another option for you. It has a similar screen but has a more powerful Snapdragon 665 (11 nm) chip. The A5 is equipped with a quad camera for much more flexible imaging capabilities. It also has stereo speakers and a much larger battery. There is also reverse charging.

Xiaomi Redmi 9 As a product of 2020, but comparing here is still very OK. It has a screen of the same size but with a much nicer FHD resolution. The Mediatek Helio G80 chipset is newer and more powerful though still building on the 12nm node. It features a more versatile quad-camera setup, a larger 5020mAh battery, and 18W fast charging as well. It is worth noting that it is cheaper than our Oppo A15.

Xiaomi Poco M3 is the champ on our comparison list. It has the same price as Oppo A15. An equally large screen, but it has a much nicer 1080p resolution. It uses the more powerful Snapdragon 662 (11 nm) chip in this segment. It is also a set of 3 cameras like A15, but the main camera is up to 48MP for much better images. Finally, there is a huge 6000 mAh battery and 18W fast charging with reverse charging.

Price and selling address

Last price update: 2021-06-12 08:23:22

  • Very cheap price for everyone
  • Fingerprint sensor is very reliable
  • Good battery life
  • Beautiful design

  • Poor processing performance
  • The screen only displays HD+
  • Micro USB charging port is too old

In short, Oppo A15 is a pretty cheap phone on the market. It will be perfect for you if you want a super cheap, durable phone with a large screen and good brightness. But if you want a phone that’s faster, takes better photos, and has an FHD display, you’ll have plenty of other options. Good luck with your choice of phone!
