The G series in the name means that this processor will be for gaming smartphones with features like HDR gaming, Qualcomm aptX Adaptive Audio and smoother graphics.
The Snapdragon 720G also uses the same Adreno 618 GPU as the Snapdragon 730 with support for OpenGL ES 3.2 and Vulkan 1.1. It has the new Hexagon 692 DSP and the new Spectra 350L image signal processor. In terms of connectivity, this processor has a Snapdragon X15 LTE modem with a maximum download speed of up to 800Mbps. Comes with Bluetooth 5.1 (aptX Adaptive Audio), WiFi 6 and USB 3.1 support. Qualcomm has also added support for dual frequency GNSS (L1 + L5).
The Snapdragon 720G supports UFS 2.1 storage with a maximum RAM capacity of 8GB, supporting up to 2520 x 1080 displays at 90Hz or 120Hz with HDR10. The Snapdragon 720G also supports Quick Charge 4.
Snapdragon 662 (SM6115)
Snapdragon 662 is located between Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 665. Qualcomm says this is the first Snapdragon 6-series line to support image storage in the HEIF format that allows for higher quality images at half the size.
The new processor is based on an 11nm process with an 8 Kryo 260 core (based on Cortex-A73 core) clocked at 2 GHz and 4 + 4 arrangement. It has Adreno 610 GPU, Hexagon 683 AIE DSP and processor Spectra 340T image signal processor.
Snapdragon 662 only supports FHD + (2220 x 1080) displays at 60Hz. It also supports emmC and UFS 2.1 storage. There is a Snapdragon X11 LTE modem with download speeds up to 390Mbps and line speeds up to 150Mbps. It also supports WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, dual frequency GPS and NavIC.
Qualcomm says the Snapdragon 662 Mobile Platform supports Quick Charge 3.0.
Snapdragon 460 (SM4250-AA)
Snapdragon 460 is the successor of Snapdragon 450, so we will see this processor line appear on smartphones priced at only $ 150 (about 3.3 million). According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 460 provides twice the system performance compared to the Snapdragon 450.
The new processor is built on 11nm process. It has 8 Kryo 240 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz combined with Adreno 610 GPU supporting Vulkan 1.1.
The Snapdragon 460 supports the display with a maximum resolution of 2220 x 1080 and a refresh rate of 60Hz. It also supports eMMC and UFS 2.1 storage, has Hexagon 683 AIE DSP and Spectra 340 ISP that supports HEIF imaging.
Snapdragon 460 is Qualcomm’s first 400-series processor with FastConnect 6100, providing maximum performance and better battery life. The processor supports WiFi-6, Bluetooth 5.1 and has a Snapdragon X11 LTE modem with the same upload and download speed as the Snapdragon 662. Like the two new processors above, the Snapdragon 460 also supports GPS GPS. dual number and NavIC satellite systems of India.
