O psychiatrist is a doctor who must be registered with the Regional Council of Medicine (CRM) of his state to be able to practice the profession. As a doctor, the psychiatrist is able to prescribe medications for their patients, such as antidepressants, anxiolytics and psychotropics. The psychiatrist can also practice psychotherapy and psychoanalysis.


The psychologist is a professional trained in Psychology, therefore did not graduate in Medicine. A psychologist sees patients in private practices, public hospitals or schools, companies and other places. Consultations with the psychologist are also important as a complement to psychiatric treatments for people with integration difficulties in society.

How to choose
