At the recent Geneva Motor Show, the three-pointed star brand has officially unveiled the 2020 facelift upgrade of the GLC luxury car with many worthwhile improvements.

1. Exterior
Using common DNA design, Merc’s high-underbody cars are becoming more and more difficult to distinguish. In this new version, GLC is considered by many experts to have many similarities with its brother in the higher segment, the GLE, with a light lamp cluster and a grille that uses two large horizontal bars in silver.

GLC facelift headlights are still a familiar LED, in addition, users can choose the modern LED Multibeam system for better lighting intensity. The design of the lamp has a big change, the tail lamp is more square and has integrated LED daytime running strip. The front bumper is also refreshed with a sinewy design that feels healthy and “roomy”. The air intakes are also neatly tuned and are more eye-catching.

At the side of the car, the embossed ribs continue to be retained by Mercedes, helping to create a sporty and edgy look for the GLC 2020. The wheels are also redesigned with a double-spoke five-spoke format that goes with the same stretching size. from 17 to 20 inches depending on the version.

The tail of the GLC retains the “chubby” profile and firmness. The rear lights are now sharpened, the graphics of the two horizontal bars have been changed to a new and beautiful closed form. The two exhaust caps on the GLC 2020 are now tapered and more angular, replacing the rounded ellipse in the current version.

2. Furniture
The cabin of the GLC 2020 is characterized by spaciousness and elegance thanks to the clever layout and arrangement of Mercedes and expensive materials such as leather and wood. The dashboard area has no major design changes as it is still made up of straight lines with a golden ratio for an impressive look.

The 3-spoke steering wheel is now refreshed with a smooth-clawed bottom, giving it a sporty impression and reminiscent of high-performance cars from the German car brand. In addition, the steering wheel also has new metal buttons that fit neatly in the shiny silver frame.

Immediately after is a completely electronic clock cluster in the form of 12.3 inch LCD. All seats on all versions are covered with leather with extreme elasticity and smoothness that has become the brand of Mercedes.

3. Equipped with amenities
MBUX’s exclusive infotainment system remains the main highlight in the list of technologies and features on the new GLC 2020. This new technology integrates gesture and voice control functions via the optional 7-inch or 10.25-inch central screen.

The function knob between the two front seats is now replaced by a larger touchpad. In particular, for the first time, the Mercedes-Benz GLC is equipped with a standard remote control lock and an option to detonate and charge the phone wirelessly.

If you are not afraid of spending money, customers can spend more to own the Energizing Comfort package. Immediately, GLC 2020 will adjust the interior space to suit the mood of the passengers through adjusting the backlight, music, massage chairs, heating and cooling.

4. Operating and safety
GLC 2020 owns the “soul” of a new turbocharged M264 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol engine capable of producing 197 horsepower for the GLC 200 and 258 horsepower on the GLC 300. The car uses a gearbox 9-speed automatic 9G-Tronic of Mercedes in conjunction with the new 4Matic all-wheel drive system that according to the manufacturer is going to increase the ability of offroad vehicles.

With the new Dynamic Select system of this luxury crossover, the driver can choose between 5 different driving modes such as Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport + and Individual. In addition, customers can choose to add the Off-Road Engineering package which adds two driving modes: Off-road and Off-road +.

Keeping up with the trend of developing hybrid engines of the world, EQ Boost technology also began to be commonly used for Mercedes-Benz product lines. More specifically, the new gasoline engine on the GLC 2020 will be combined with a 48V electric motor that adds 13 horsepower and 150 Nm to support the engine’s acceleration to the engine of 2,500 rpm. Thus, Mercedes-Benz GLC 2020 will have a total capacity of 210 horsepower, 429 Nm of torque in the GLC 200 4Matic and 271 horsepower, 520 Nm in the GLC 300 4Matic.

In terms of safety, besides familiar systems such as anti-lock brakes, electronic balancing, … GLC 2020 is equipped with a series of other advanced technologies such as automatic distance keeping, driver assistance. Active lane keeping assist, blind spot warning, and active lane change assist.

In addition, the GLC 2020 will also have driver assistance features such as Active Distance Assist Distronic technology that helps the vehicle have the ability to keep a distance from the front car in Cruise Control automatic throttle mode. In addition, this technology also has the ability to identify the front curve to help the car automatically reduce the speed, ensuring smoothness and balance for the car when cornering. After going through the curve, the car will automatically regain its set speed.

5. Conclusion
Although only a mid-life upgrade, the GLC 2020 has an impressive pitch. Currently, fans of the Stuttgart luxury car brand in Vietnam are eagerly awaiting the arrival of this model.

It is expected that after the European market, Mercedes-Benz GLC 2020 will continue to be launched in many other markets around the globe, including Vietnam. The price of Mercedes-Benz GLC 2020 has not yet been announced.
