Occurred last weekend A man arrested for a murder in Gatineau


A suspect was arrested Tuesday in connection with a murder that occurred last weekend in Gatineau, while another is wanted, local police said Thursday.

Danny Hamel-Racine of Gatineau has been charged with the unscheduled murder of Matthew Francis O’Heron, who was 35 years old.

Another 31-year-old suspect, Nicolas Brazeau D’Avignon, is wanted by Gatineau police on a warrant for second degree murder.

“Citizens believing to see the wanted individual are requested to immediately contact 911 and not to attempt to arrest him themselves,” the police said in a press release Thursday morning.

Danny Hamel-Racine appeared in the Court of Quebec on Wednesday. Other charges could be added.

The 32-year-old defendant was apprehended around 5 p.m. Tuesday in Gatineau.

“The suspect was known to the police for various crimes. The investigation is continuing, ”police said.

The dead body of the victim was discovered outside an Ultramar garage on boulevard La Vérendrye Ouest around 6:35 a.m. on Saturday by a citizen. Matthew Francis O’Heron was pronounced dead in hospital. The autopsy revealed that a sharp or sharp weapon is responsible for his fate.
