Like so many other industries, cinema was paralyzed by the coronavirus pandemic. Some premieres scheduled for this year have been postponed to 2021, but many more productions will hit the screens in 2020. Next, see a list of those action-packed titles that will be released in the coming months. Prepare the popcorn and check it out.

Tenet is the new production by director Christopher Nolan, renowned for great successes such as the Batman trilogy, Interstellar, The Origin and Dunkirk. The production, the second most expensive of his career, combines many of the elements that Nolan dominates: thriller, spies, parallel realities and time travel. The cast features John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh.

Release date of: July 23.


Mulan, the Disney story that tells how a young woman in imperial China impersonates a man to fight in resistance against the Huns and protect her father from the call to war, will now have a version with actors of flesh and blood. Mulan will be played by actress and singer Liu Yifei. As far as is known, the script will be more faithful to the original legend of the heroine Hua Mulán than the 1998 cartoon.

Release date of: July 23.

Wonder Woman 1984

While the first Wonder Woman film is set during World War I, the new production takes place in 1984, in the last years of the Cold War. In the film, Diana Prince (again played by Gal Gadot) will face Cheetah, a villain with supernatural powers. The director is Monster’s Patty Jenkins, who won the Oscar for Best Actress for Charlize Theron.

Release date of: August 13.

A Quiet Place – Part II

A Quiet Place – Part II is one of the most anticipated horror films of the year. The Abbott family once again faces frightening creatures in the post-apocalyptic setting. Again, the film’s protagonist is Emily Blunt while her partner in the first film, John Krasinski (the unforgettable Jim from The Office series), takes the helm.

Release date of: September 3rd.

Black Widow

Black Widow, a new Marvel Universe film, brings back Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, and, like the rest of the Avengers movies, the story intersects with other heroes in the saga. The events of the film are situated between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinite War. Romanoff must face a conspiracy related to his past as a spy while fighting dark forces that intend to kill her.

Release date of: October 29th.

Godzilla vs Kong

In this super production, we will see the fight between two of the most famous monsters in the history of cinema. The long awaited crossover takes place after a radioactive attack by Monarch, the dark conspiracy that chases the two creatures in the most recent films, makes Kong the size of Godzilla. The film promises spectacular special effects and many surprises for the way the casts of the two stories interact. The team features names like Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Jessica Henwick and Kyle Chandler. Directed by Adam Wingard (Blair’s Witch).

Release date of: November 18th.

007: No Time to Die

After many problems during the recording, the new James Bond film finally arrives, which will be the last with Daniel Craig giving life to the famous Agent 007. And it looks like the farewell will be in style. In No Time to DieBond is heading towards a peaceful retirement until an old CIA friend contacts him for a final mission. The cast, as always in luxury, features Rami Malek as the villain, Léa Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Ana de Armas and Christoph Waltz. Directed by Cary Fukunaga (True Detective), the film has a script signed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag).

Release date of: November 19th.

Top Gun: Maverick

More than three decades will pass before the debut of Top Gun, a film that transformed Tom Cruise into an international star. The sequel features Pete Maverick Mitchell as a veteran flight instructor from San Diego, where he receives an unexpected visit from the son of his late friend and co-pilot Goose. In addition to Cruise, the cast also features Miles Teller (Whiplash), Van Kilmer and Jennifer Connelly. The direction is by Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy and Oblivion).
