Google recently blocked the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser from experiencing the new version of YouTube. This move by Google is having a negative impact on Microsoft’s new Edge browser.
Microsoft Edge users can still access YouTube, but that is just the old version only, experiencing the new interface is not possible. For some users, it doesn’t matter to them because the old design gives better performance than the new one.
Now, when accessing “https://www.youtube.com/new” with the new Microsoft Edge, the user will get the message “Your browser is not supported”. Next, Google will issue a message calling you to download and install Chrome browser. Google does not provide any explanation as to why Edge does not support the new YouTube interface.
In addition, new Microsoft Edge users when experiencing YouTube will experience other issues such as live chat not working and notification that your browser needs to be updated to a newer version. Actually, Microsoft Edge Chromium doesn’t have any newer versions.
If you replace the “user agent” on a new Microsoft Edge, the new YouTube design will appear, but the live chat feature will still not work.
This is not the first time that products from Google have made it difficult for the new Microsoft Edge browser. Previously, Google Drive also displayed a “browser not supported” message when users access this application using the new Microsoft Edge browser.
In fact, Microsoft Edge Chromium has reduced the share of Google Chrome, and Google’s move is to limit the development of Microsoft’s new browser.
