It is headquartered in Sacramento, California, with a satellite office across the country in Frisco, Texas, and overseas in Ahmedabad, India and Cebu, Philippines. At the last count, Meditab has more than 380,000 users and its medical practice management software solution is called IMS Manager.

Managing a busy medical practice requires a bit of multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and this is where medical practice management software comes in. Meditab offers a compelling solution that can reduce the load of daily operations, while increasing efficiency, and revenue – after all, it was created by a team of doctors. It is also designed to be scalable to adapt to practices of all sizes, from solo to large, multi-specialty.
The Meditab solution begins with functionalities to optimize the tasks that occupy the front-end. Rather than the heavy signage sheets where patients indicate they have arrived and then front desk staff have to interact with them, there may now be automated kiosks for self-service check-in. This same process can also be used for departure, thereby freeing up front office staff for other needs. Copays can also be picked up at check-in or check-out, depending on your preference. Other time-consuming tasks can also be automated, including patient monitoring and insurance eligibility checks.

Meditab also integrates well with the rest of the suite. This includes their EHR, which can be used on a mobile basis through the IMSGo app, and provides a unified database. The suite is cloud-based, usable through a browser, and can be used on both the Windows PC and Apple platforms. There is support for the important task of electronic prescribing and ordering of clinical laboratory tests. Input can be easily done using the mouse, keyboard and voice methods.
Meditab meets all current regulatory requirements. This includes HIPAA, ICD-10 compliance, Stage 1 and Stage 2 significant use certification, and DFA-compliant EPCS intelligent medical software and tools.
Communication with patients is also improved, and the days of endless phone calls are over. This includes the convenient electronic fax tool to send requested patient information in a HIPAA-compliant manner, to attending physicians and insurance companies. Reminders for patient appointments can also be sent via email, as well as text messaging. Billing is also improved, with paying bills online and cleaning up claims before submitting invoices.
The rest has its problems. Some complain that they sometimes have to wait a few minutes before they can speak to a representative, although other times the representative is more readily available. Another complained that the training during their integration was less than useful with little training and more troubleshooting to resolve technical problems related to commissioning.
The feature set also seems to be an issue. One user complained that Meditab offered too many features that were not needed or used by the office, and that this had resulted in a high cost for the program, and he wished he could lose some of this functionality superfluous and reduce the price. Another user encountered a problem when trying to print information and wanted the process to be more streamlined.
Other complaints still focus on the problems of the program, notably that it is too resource-intensive. Although modern software often has higher hardware requirements, and we have not received details of the hardware used, having problems with memory errors, or having to restart the computer and software after scanning more than 10 documents is more than a retarder, and not conducive to the fluidity of the work of a busy front end in a medical office.

Meditab says it provides “Outstanding Customer Service,” via a customer service team, which strives to provide a consistent level of customer support.
Meditab offers support through a choice of methods. We appreciate that the phone number and fax number are easily visible and feature prominently on the website, although neither is free. In addition, note the email address for issues that are not time sensitive, although we do not recommend that you include screenshots or other protected health information (PHI) because the e -mail is not HIPAA compliant. Finally, as shown in the screenshot above, there is an online portal accessible via a connection.
The pricing of the IMS manager, in fact for all Meditab services, is quite opaque. There is a portal on the Meditab site to contact the company for a personalized quote.
By searching online, we were able to find a price of $ 199 (£ 163) for each user, on a monthly basis. It is not known if each user is a clinician or office staff, but this seems to be cheaper than some other competing solutions.
Meditab offers an intelligent solution to manage a complicated medical practice. We note that it complies with all regulations, is cloud-based and can work on any PC with a browser, and integrates automatic reminders to patients via numerous communication platforms. Disadvantages include the price below future prices, the lack of a toll-free number for support, and no free trial available. In the final analysis, for a practice seeking to automate its medical practice, Meditab deserves careful consideration.
