Not long after Qualcomm suddenly released the Snapdragon 855+ chipset, a new report appeared recently revealing plans to launch MediaTek's new mobile processor. Accordingly, this new SoC is called the Helio G90 and it will focus on mobile games.
According to Gizmochina, a poster of the Helio G90 has leaked, but unfortunately it doesn't reveal much information about this new chipset, except to confirm it will be targeted at mobile games. Most likely Helio G90 will be officially announced at the end of this July.
There is no information that any manufacturer will integrate the Helio G90 chipset on its devices. However, it is known that Xiaomi has not announced its smartphone using MediaTek's chipset this year.
Mi Play launched last year is the Chinese smartphone's last smartphone equipped with MTK chipset. Other big-name manufacturers like OPPO and Vivo have announced many phones with MediaTek chipsets, so one of them may be the first to announce a Helio G90 device.
Last month, MediaTek announced the Helio P65 – an eight-core processor with Cortex-A75 and Cortex A55 cores, making it more powerful than the Helio P60 and Helio P70 (CPU only). However, the Helio P65 comes with less powerful GPU, does not support UFS 2.1 storage like P70 and only supports LPDDR4x RAM one channel.
