Byron Allen, owner of a TV media group, accuses McDonald’s of having allocated a tiny portion of its advertising budget to media controlled by African Americans, reports La Presse.
According to its calculations, McDonald’s would have spent $ 1.6 billion on TV ads in the United States in 2019, but only 0.31% of that amount on media owned by African Americans.
The owner of the Allen Media / Entertainment Studios group claims that McDonald’s has discriminated against its companies because of contracts based on racial stereotypes.
“McDonald’s takes billions from African American consumers and gives them virtually nothing in return. America’s biggest trade deficit is the trade deficit between white business America and black America, and McDonald’s is guilty of perpetuating this disparity, ”Allen said in a statement.
McDonald’s recently announced plans to increase advertising spending in minority-owned media. These amounts are expected to increase from 2% to 5% of its national advertising budget by 2025.
