“If there is an error on the person, it shows how much you have to review everything. We need answers. It is the integrity of the SPVM that is at stake, ”Lionel Perez said Wednesday in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.
Mr. Perez would like the head of the Police Department of the City of Montreal (SPVM) to give an explanation of this turnaround.
The official opposition to the Town Hall has also added that this situation shows that the officers of the SPVM must be equipped with a portable camera.
Mamadi Fara Camara, a 31-year-old man, was charged with attempted murder of a police officer, assault causing bodily harm, disarming the patroller and discharging a gun at him.
This situation “taken from a film, never seen in Montreal, will aggravate the concern of the population”, according to the Leader of the Opposition.
“It’s a lesson for a lot of people. Regarding racial profiling, we will have to see if this is not another example. ”
