Lenovo has just presented its new gaming smartphone, the Legion Phone Duel 2. It is equipped with the best components on the market and makes few concessions, especially on cooling.
The Lenovo Phone Duel 2 is powered by Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 888 processor. The chip is supported by up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This will be more than enough to run all the most greedy games in the Play Store with the graphics at their best.
The phone uses a 6,92 pouces FHD+ (2460 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED perfect for gaming. Indeed, it is compatible with 144Hz refresh rate and 720Hz touch sampling rate. In addition, it is compatible HDR10+ and can go up to a maximum brightness of 1300 nits. Unlike flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra or the Xiaomi Mi 11, the screen is not protected by the latest Gorilla Glass Victus. It will take see content of Gorilla Glass 5.
The Legion Phone Duel 2 promises to be autonomous
The phone will be powered by a massive 5500mAh battery, and will support 90W wired charging. It will take 30 minutes to charge the Legion Phone Duel 2 to 100% using the two USB-C ports. Lenovo has therefore made the choice of versatile technical characteristics at the battery level. This is not the case with its competitors.
Indeed, the Xiaomi Black Shark 4 is equipped with a battery of only 4500 mAh compatible with overpowered 120W wired charging, and the ASUS ROG Phone 5 offers a 6000 mAh battery, but with a wired charging of only 65 W.
On the photo side, the smartphone is more interesting than its direct competitors. It offers two rear cameras, including a 64 MP main, the OmniVision OV64A. This has the advantage of being the best 64 MP sensor on the market, in particular thanks to its 1.0 μm photosites. He is accompanied bya 16 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor offering a viewing angle of 123 °.
Up front, the phone can rely on a 44 MP selfie camera housed in a pop-up mechanism. Its location is rather atypical, since it is located on the right edge of the phone to encourage horizontal use.
The cooling system promises to be efficient
A few days ago, we had already had the opportunity to see stolen photos revealing the astonishing design of the Legion Phone Duel 2. Indeed, it has a huge Legion RGB logo in the center. This can be lit in 16.8 million different colors. It is surrounded by a fan, a flash and the two photo sensors.
The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 aims to be the smartphone with the most efficient cooling system on the market. It is the first to be equipped with two fans. The Twin Turbo-Fan are supported by a large steam chamber for keep the phone cool and thus limit performance drops. Therefore, the smartphone is not one of the lightest devices, since it weighs no less than 259 grams.
Other features include four tactile triggers on the edge, two more than the ROG Phone 5. We also find two front speakers for Dolby Atmos stereo sound. The phone also includes four microphones with noise reduction technology.
Pricing and availability
In France, the smartphone will be delivered from mid-May but is already available for pre-order. It is offered at a starting price of 799 euros for the 12 GB version of RAM and 256 GB of storage, and 999 euros for the 16/256 GB version. The latter will be accompanied by a charging base, while it will have to be purchased separately on the most affordable version. Both versions will be available in two colors: Ultimate Black et Titanium White.
