Folding screen phones will not be unfamiliar to everyone. When Lenovo released the National Bank version of Motorola’s Razr folding screen phone last year, the company also announced the “World’s First Folding Screen Laptop” ThinkPad X1 Fold. At the CES 2020 Consumer Conference, Lenovo announced more information about this product, such as the release in mid-2020, starting at $ 2499 (about 17,000 yuan).
Regarding Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Fold folding screen notebook product displayed at CES 2020, compared with the ThinkPad X1 announced last year, a camera compatible with Windows Hello has been added, and the hardware has not changed much, such as the 13.3-inch 4: 3 OLED display panel, provided by LG Display, with a resolution of 2048 × 1536, the same as the 9.7-inch iPad. According to The Verge, when it is unfolded, it is similar to the foldable screen mobile phone that has been on the market. It will also have creases in the folded place, but it is difficult to notice in person.
Compared to hardware, Lenovo’s product is mainly intended to show its novel design, “the first folding screen notebook computer.” The ThinkPad X1 Fold still has a flat leather look that slides as the screen unfolds and folds. In use, Lenovo has also developed a notebook mode, so that after folding a part of the screen becomes a keyboard, users can use it like an ordinary small notebook, and the folding angle can also be adjusted.
The X1 Fold is also equipped with a Bluetooth keyboard, which can meet the tasks that require a large number of code words, such as completing the work of a small editor. The matching keyboard can be magnetically attracted to the lower half of the display. When the screen is folded, the keyboard can just fill the gap between the screens. Users can also unfold the screen completely and use the built-in stand to stand up the notebook. In addition, Lenovo also introduced an easel-type stand, putting the X1 Fold on it is equivalent to a compact all-in-one machine.
In terms of size, when the X1 Fold is folded, it should be similar to the Chinese textbooks we used in school. It may be longer and have very good portability. In terms of performance, Lenovo said that the battery life of this product can reach 11 hours, so you know the performance. As for more specific processors and other information, we still have to wait until Lenovo officially releases this product in the middle of the year to know. On the system, Lenovo’s product displayed at CES 2020 is still running Windows 10 Pro. When it is released in the middle of the year, it may run Windows 10X, a system designed for dual-screen or folding screen products.
