LEGO titles have maintained a consistent popularity and commercial success for nearly 15 consecutive years. A big part of that endurance comes from the various properties that Lego has licensed and included in games based on its game sets. Star Wars, Harry Potter and the Marvel Universe are just a few of them. New LEGO titles are being released on a nearly constant basis, with many titles appearing every year, bringing these brands to work in all media and entertainment industries.

Another game will soon be released to the audience when Warner Bros. Interactive Entertaiment, LEGO Group and Lucasfilm have announced a new mobile game called LEGO Star Wars Battles. Developed by the old LEGO game development studio TT Games' Brighton, LEGO Star Wars Battles is considered an action strategy game: it will combine real-time strategy with construction in 1vs matches 1 at high speed. The press release states that players will build light side or dark side forces, combining characters and vehicles from all eras of Star Wars history. Each match will involve protecting and capturing territory as players try to destroy their rival base, actively deploy troops and build LEGO towers on the battlefield.

LEGO Star Wars Battles will contain content from the entire Skywalker Saga, as well as The Clone Wars and Rogue One. Collecting characters will be a major aspect of the game, and confirmed characters include Luke Skywalker, Rey, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Boba Fett, and Darth Vader as well as Porgs, Stormtroopers and Battle Droids. Vehicles like the Millenium Falcon will also participate in the game and the player's progress will unlock different arenas based on familiar Star Wars planets, like Scarif, Naboo, Hoth, Endor, Geonosis, etc. The game will be available on Apple App Store and Google Play in 2020 and will be free to download, but will include in-app shopping features.

Many people commented that LEGO games always come up with formulas and iterations, but that recipe never fails to make fun. While most LEGO games are known for a family-friendly approach, LEGO Star Wars Battles seem to be going in the direction of competition like Clash Royale. That aspect can really make it appealing to more players, will attract both new players as well as experienced players.
