With excellent screen roles that are admired by the world, Keanu Reeves has been chosen by many game companies to be the face of his game, with a typical example being Cyberpunk 2077. However, although his acting was convincing enough for any game director, Keanu was still unlucky not to be chosen to represent Hideo Kojima's upcoming superstar – Death Stranding.
With trailers and lots of information revealed in previous articles, we can easily understand why the Death Stranding is so fascinating. And with such a fascinating game, Mads Mikkelsen and the one who will face the battle line, Norman Reedus, are selected as characters that will contribute to the attraction of Death Stranding. However, at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019 event, Kojima revealed that he was originally recommended to consider Keanu as the main character.
Kojima shared: “I was originally asked to consider Keanu Reeves, but I chose Mads Mikkelsen. There is no reason to create an existing one. I want to create something that will bring more inspiration to the world. Like Hollywood movies, viewers will simply receive it and then digest it gradually. However, what I do is create a game that is enough to make it hard for anyone and will definitely be difficult to swallow with many gamers. ” Even when discussing storytelling, Kojima admits, in order to determine whether Death Stranding is good or bad, "you can take a decade to think carefully about it."
In the past event, Kojima reflected more on current trends in the current gaming industry. According to him, if after leaving Konami, creating Kojima Productions as a standalone studio, the easiest thing he could do was create a game with a wide map and then throw the characters in there to shoot together. However, he did not choose to follow that popular trend but created himself a separate path with a "unique" part that almost only Kojima dared to do this. Many people believe that this direction will make Kojima and his studio lonely in a volatile and changing game market.
