Kaze and the Wild Masks gives us a final trailer before its release in a few weeks. On the program, a platform that smells of the 90s, rabid vegetables, and masks endowed with immense powers. This last trailer, aptly named “Story Trailer”, allows us to learn more about its history.
Independent platformer edited by Soedesco and developed by PixelHive, the game made in Rotterdam will make you take on the role of Kaze, a rabbit who will have to save her best friend Hogo from a strange curse, and in the process free the paradisiacal Crystal Islands from Chaos. To do this, she will be able to use the special faculties conferred on her by the famous wild masks. Four in number (tiger, shark, eagle and lizard), each will have its use in this dreamlike world.
A true declaration of love to the action and platform classics of the Super NES / MegaDrive era (choose your side), the title will remind you of the heyday of Kid Chameleon, Wonderboy and others. Its colorful graphics, neat 2D animation, and old-school soundtrack won’t leave you indifferent if you’re gender sensitive.
Competition is fierce in the field of platform games, and this on all consoles. From Ori and the Will of the Wisps to Spelunky via Celeste, and without counting the Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury and Super Meat Boy Forever steamrollers, the title will have to prove its worth to earn its stripes, and climb on the podium of the best platformers.
We bet that if the gameplay is at the height of the graphic design, the trip could well make us relive the best hours of our childhood. But will he be able to win in the hearts of players (old and new)? Kaze and the Wild Masks will land digitally on March 26, 2021, and in physical media on May 25, 2021.
