Also, as an extra edition, I would like to introduce the one using “bottled sea urchin (with alcohol)” made in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, which I have been accustomed to eating since I was a child.
Preparation of kamaboko sandwich
First, about the preparation of kamaboko and other vegetables. Separate the kamaboko from the board with a kitchen knife.

Plum kamaboko sandwich
For plum meat, remove the dried plum seeds and tap it lightly with a kitchen knife, or prepare a commercially available plum meat tube.
When the kamaboko is ready, set the cucumber in a position where the jaggedness of the perilla leaves pops out a little.
Insert the perilla and cucumber into the notch in the kamaboko and arrange them on a plate or cutting board.
Next to the cucumber, spread the plum meat with chopsticks and it’s done.
Wasabi bonito flakes
First, put the dried bonito in a container, add a little soy sauce (not included in the amount), mix, and season.
Put the dried bonito in the notch of the kamaboko.
Put the sliced cucumbers in it and arrange them on a plate or cutting board.
Next to the cucumber, spread the wasabi with chopsticks and it’s done.
* If a child who is not good at wasabi eats, just[Katsuobushi + cucumber]without wasabi is delicious.
Salmon roe kamaboko sandwich
Cucumber and perilla are the same as the combination of plum meat, so the procedure in the first half is the same.
When the kamaboko is ready, set the cucumber at a position where the jaggedness of the perilla leaves pops out a little, and sandwich it between the kamaboko.
Place the salmon roe on a plate or cutting board next to the cucumber and add the salmon roe in soy sauce with a spoon.
[Extra edition]Sea urchin kamaboko sandwich
This is not common, but I’ve been accustomed to eating it for a long time, so I’d like to introduce it as an extra edition.
I use “bottled sea urchin (with alcohol)” and “cucumber”. Since it is pickled in alcohol, it has a different flavor from ordinary sea urchin, but this is unexpectedly compatible with kamaboko sandwich (I often ate it at my parents’ house)
Put the cucumber in the kamaboko and put the sea urchin in between, and it’s done.
* Since the flavor of alcohol is strong, if you imagine a sea urchin to eat at a sushi restaurant and purchase it, you will get a “different flavor …”, but if you are interested, please try it.
If you serve the finished kamaboko sandwich on several types of plates, it will be a fun snack to choose from.
You can serve it on a small plate or a lot on a large plate. Both will be different, so please try it for yourself or for a party.
