Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF Securities and a major influence on Apple products, recently revealed new changes to the iPhones of 2019 and 2020.
According to Mr. Kuo, iPhone 2019 will be equipped with a new modified MPI (modified-Pl) antenna structure due to shifts in the supply chain and technology. This prediction was made by Mr. Kuo in 2019 but now he is even more certain of his forecast.
Currently, the iPhone XS, XS Max, and iPhone XR are all limited by Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) antenna technology that causes problems with high frequency cellular data transmission. The shift to the MPI antenna structure on the iPhone 2019 not only helps Apple improve product quality, but also ensures better 4G LTE network connectivity, improves performance when navigating indoors to help identify objects. misplaced better.
However, Kuo said that due to the new ultra-wide-band upgrades, the cost of antenna technology in 2019 will increase from 10% to 20% compared to last year.
The new antenna structure makes iPhone 2019 equipped with two antennas (one MPI and one LCP) above the body, and three other MPI antennas on the bottom. But by 2020, when Apple launches the 5G iPhone, the LCP antenna will be used again.
In addition, Mr. Kuo also forecasted the number of iPhones shipped, according to which the number of half of 2019 will be almost unchanged compared to last year.
Earlier in April 2019, Mr. Kuo also predicted that the iPhone 2020 will be equipped with modems from both Qualcomm and Samsung. He said that Apple’s 5G iPhone will be shipped to 200 million in 2020.
