iPhone 12 mini is “ estranged ” by Apple users

Of the iPhones still sold by Apple, the iPhone 12 mini accounts for less than 5% of sales, far behind the older iPhone models XR and SE2.

A new report released by the user tastes research organization (CIRP) shows sluggish sales of the iPhone 12 mini in the first quarter of 2021.

The report shows that the four newly launched iPhone 12 account for 64% of all Apple phone sales. However, the best-selling iPhone belongs to the iPhone 11 with 24% of sales. The low price, large screen and not too outdated technology are probably the reasons for the success of the iPhone launched more than 19 months.

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max are the next bestsellers. Both are the largest and most expensive smartphones in Apple’s lineup, accounting for 20% of quarterly sales.

Most notably is the iPhone 12 Mini. Although expected to be a breakthrough for users who like small smartphones, the iPhone 12 Mini only accounts for less than 5% of iPhone sales in Q1 / 2021. This number leaves it behind both old technology iPhones like the XR that is more than two and a half years old (9%) and SE (7%). The screen is too small, the battery low can be the reason why the 12-min iPhone is “estranged” by users.

However, in the recent product launch on April 21, Apple continued to launch the new purple iPhone 12 mini. However, it is likely that when the iPhone 13 is released, the small-screen iPhone line will be removed by Apple.
