1. Open the quick camera
Have you ever missed a good moment just because you spent too much time opening the camera and looking for the camera app? If ever, this is definitely a feature you cannot miss.
In Pixel phones, there is a quick setting to open the camera just by double pressing the power button. Whether you’re locking your phone or using another app, the double-click camera immediately pops up, saving you a few precious seconds when you need to capture quick and beautiful moments.
To install, go to Settings > System > Gestures > Jump to camera.
2. Automatically detect songs
Google Pixel lets you know what song is playing without opening the app or even unlocking the phone. This feature works completely offline, so you don’t have to send Google any information or need any connection. This setting also has a recognized playlist. You can also create a shortcut of this list on the home screen to be accessible at any time.
To enable this feature, go to Settings > Sound > Now Playing. The song will be displayed on both the lock screen and menu notifications.
3. Hold your phone firmly to call Google Assistant
Yes, you can call Google Assistant that way. Next time you want to create a reminder, search for something, send a message or check the weather, you just need to be tight on the bottom of the phone to get started.
Install this feature, go to Settings > System > Gestures > Active Edge to activate. You can also make this feature active when the screen is off.
4. Record Live Caption for any audio on the phone
Live Caption provides subtitles at the same time as the audio playing on the phone. If you’re in a quiet place without a headset, you can still know what audio is saying by turning the audio off and turning on the Live Caption to read the subtitles.
It works with almost everything except incoming calls, music and VoIP. To turn on Live Caption on Pixel, select Settings > Accessibility > Live Caption. Turn on or off the Live Caption can be adjusted very easily by increasing or decreasing the volume button.
5. Automatically answer incoming calls
Google Pixel has a Call Screen feature, which will simply answer incoming calls for you. When this feature is turned on, you can see Google Assistant answering phones for you.
To improve this function, you can automatically cancel a call. Spam calls will be automatically canceled without you even noticing them. Calls from unknown numbers are also recorded.
Open the phone app to take advantage of this feature of the Pixel. From the 3 dots on the right corner menu, go to Settings > Spam and Call Screen > Call Screen.
6. Never run out of space for photos and videos
This is the Pixel feature that works on other phones, but it’s especially useful for those who own Google smartphones.
All your photos and videos will be backed up to Google Photos, so you shouldn’t miss the built-in space saver. The feature will automatically delete all photos and videos that have been backed up on Google Photos.
To install, select Library from below, select Utilities > Free up space, and then select Free up
7. Take portrait mode photos professionally
You may know that Google Pixel is the best smartphone camera on the market, but not everyone knows the trick with Pixel portraits.
Before taking a photo, swipe to Portrait mode. The resulting photo will blur the background to make the subject stand out, whether it’s a selfie or something else.
You can also edit photos saved in Google Photos (with photos of people). Just use the selection Edit then select Blur.
8. Create shortcuts for the application
Some apps get quick access by holding down the app icon. Try it on the camera app and you’ll see a shortcut to record a video or take a selfie.
This feature is extremely convenient if you use the app for only one purpose, such as opening a playlist on a music application or writing a new mail. Try it on apps like Youtube, Messages, Phone, Maps, etc.
9. Take better low-light photos with Night Sight
Night Sight is a photography feature built into all Pixel devices. It improves the quality of photos taken in low light, but will not need flash support to do this.
When preparing to take a photo, click Try Night Sight (if found) or swipe to open Night Sight mode. After pressing the shutter button, wait a few seconds for the photo to complete.
10. Turn the phone down to turn on do not disturb mode
Google Pixel allows you to activate Do Not Disturb mode while facing the phone face down. If there is a notification the screen will turn on, everything else will be in silent mode.
You can still turn it on manually, which is a little more convenient if you don’t have a lot of time.
To install, go to Settings > System > Gestures > Flip to Shhh.
11. Activate Dark Mode on Pixel
Pixel, like current phones, supports Dark Mode. This mode will display in menus, notifications, folders, Google Assistant and a lot of applications.
To activate Dark Mode, go to Settings > Display > Dark theme.
12. Use VPN to open WiFi network
Connecting to an Internet connection is familiar but not a good idea. You will face the risk of privacy or security breach when connecting to a public WiFi network, without a password.
However, Pixel users, in addition to automatically connecting to public WiFi, can simultaneously pair it with a VPN managed by Google.
To enable this feature, go to Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi preferences and turn on Connect to open networks.
13. Take photos by voice
When you can’t take photos in standby mode and you don’t have a selfie stick, you can call Google Assistant to help you take photos. Just say OK Google, take a picture or OK Google, take a selfie to start the countdown. You have 3 seconds to pose before shooting.
14. Lock the device without the power button
In addition to using the power button to lock the device, the Pixel also has a feature called Lockdown. When Lockdown is enabled, this mode will turn off Smart Lock, turn off all kinds of fingerprint unlocking and clear all notifications on the screen.
This feature will be useful when the user is in a dangerous situation or when forced to hand out the phone.
To activate Lockdown enter Settings > Display > Advanced > Lock screen display > Show lockdown option. To use, hold down the power button and select Lockdown. Everything will return to normal when you enter the device password.
15. View notifications by fingerprint sensor
Instead of swiping down to see the notification with your finger, you can use the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone. Swipe up on the sensor to see notifications and swipe down to turn them off. Install this feature by Settings > System > Gestures > Swipe fingerprint for notifications.
