Twelve partners including Goo, Funplus, Xiaoxiong Bowang, Xiaoying Technology, Oppu, Feishu Shennuo, Testin, and other 12 partners launched the HMS Global Ecological Alliance, aiming to rely on Huawei’s globalization experience and capabilities to aggregate the advantages of partners and establish “offshore services” engine”.
HMS provides services and support for Chinese developers going overseas
According to Zhang Li, Vice Minister of Huawei’s Global Ecological Business Development Department, in the past year, Huawei has learned that Chinese developers who go overseas often encounter some relatively big problems when they go overseas. Especially small and medium-sized developers, they lack a lot of services and support in the process of going overseas.
What Huawei sees more is that in the entire process of going overseas, it is not only the link of application release, it may already need platform support from product planning and insight into the target market, so Huawei and partners initiate Established such a HMS Ecological Alliance to go overseas.
Zhang Li said that the two biggest features of HMS’s overseas service engine are all links and more openness.
The whole link means that it will empower from planning and design to the full cycle. In the alliance, there are not only developers going overseas, but also partner service providers going overseas, as well as a full-scenario smart terminal covering Huawei 1+8+n, including lighting and other HiLink partners in the ecological alliance going overseas. The ecological cooperation content of Huawei’s HMS Global Ecological Alliance is very extensive, and it is an ecosystem that empowers all links.
More open means that not only the capabilities of Huawei but also the capabilities of partners are included in the capabilities. Huawei will aggregate the capabilities of third parties for centralized empowerment. In the past extensive exchanges with developers, Huawei has extracted three of the most common and concentrated difficulties for overseas developers. One is the localization of products; the other is localization compliance; the third is localization promotion. Therefore, the HMS service engine will also build an all-round and more open platform environment for these three problems. One is the ability of its own engine, which actually covers product localization, local compliance, and localization promotion; the second is technology and product innovation capabilities.
HMS localization technology and team support to meet diverse needs
Wang Yanmin, President of Huawei’s Global Ecological Business Development Department, said, “The goal of HMS ecological construction is to meet the most frequently used needs of consumers step by step. Therefore, we set our goal last year. As a brand new ecosystem, we chose the head 3000 APPs as our first batch of ecological development goals. These applications include social networking, news, and daily life, including sports and health, etc., covering the content that our ordinary consumers most want to obtain in daily life As of last month, nearly 80% of head applications have already cooperated with Huawei.”
For developers in different fields, in addition to general basic capabilities, Huawei will also provide customized solutions. Wang Yanmin said, “In fact, many of our examples are about games, and games are a very typical type of developer. The same is a game, and its needs are different, because many games are commercialized through in-app purchases. Many games are monetized through advertising. There is also a hybrid approach, both advertising and in-app purchases, so even in the game industry, its needs are diversified, so we think we It will establish some of the most fundamental needs, such as global payment, because if any game goes out, whether you monetize through advertising or through in-app purchases, you must first solve the global regional payment problem , So to build a global payment platform and network to help these game developers realize monetization is a core capability we will build in the future.”

According to Zhang Zhe, Director of Huawei’s Global Ecological Business Development Department, Huawei’s HMS Ecological Development Department has been in operation for more than a year since its establishment last year. “If you don’t include R&D personnel, there are currently more than 400 ecological personnel in the world. The overall progress is better than the company’s overall expectations. We mainly focus on overseas; at the beginning, we work for terminal sales. The environment is constantly changing, and our mission may be adjusted in the future.”
Regarding cooperation with overseas game manufacturers, Zhang Zhe said, “Taking Supercell as an example, our cooperation with each other is still very good, and “Wild Brawl” is also newly launched in China, and we are also closely discussing plans for overseas launches. The cooperation of the game center in China has been very good, completely exceeding expectations. We also attach great importance to the entire game itself, not only Supercell, but also games like Ubisoft and GameLoft are cooperating with us.”
Huawei has set up an online platform for developers to allow partners to communicate. At the same time, many of AppGallery’s overseas applications have already received fund incentives. Zhang Li introduced the capabilities of HMS engine services: product localization support, including language, media, and music in product localization, including some other localizations, and some product research. “Some of these capabilities are realized after our partners are gathered together, and some are our systems. In terms of compliance support, HMS has also established a support platform that relies on Huawei’s legal affairs, and has joined hands with legal agencies and partners in some local regions to build an online compliance expert system with some expert case libraries. HMS has made great progress in the past year. With 1.8 million registered developers worldwide, HMS has become the world’s third largest application distribution market. In terms of attracting more developers to join the HMS ecological construction, Wang Yanmin said that Huawei will build from several aspects. “The first aspect is that developers themselves need more channels to publish their content. We actually provide developers with more diversified choices. The second point is that developers are in these two channels. They may feel that the cost of channel distribution is too high. If there is a new channel that can provide a more efficient means of acquiring customers and lower the cost of distribution channels, I think it will be very attractive to developers. Third. Of course, in addition to the support of the HMS service engine, Huawei also has a $1 billion “Star Project” to support developers. Wang Yanmin revealed that so far, more than 10,000 Chinese developers have participated in the Yaoxing Project and have released their applications or content on AppGallery.
