Huawei gets it wrong when placing ads on a user's lock screen

In the past few days Huawei users in the UK, Germany, South Africa and many countries have complained that they saw the Booking.com travel site ad on lockscreen of Huawei phones. Huawei responds that this is exactly what they do, not because the user is infected with adware or malware, and they have turned off ads outside the lock screen, so it won't show up for new people. Huawei apologizes to users for the inconvenience caused.

For devices that have "missed" downloaded advertising images, you do the following:

  1. When the ad appears, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to see a toolbar
  2. Click the Delete button and click the Remove button when asked
  3. Ads will disappear from your lock screen.
