Windows 10 May 2019 provides a lot of options for operating system login for users to choose and use according to their preferences.
But what if you miss a password or PIN to log into Windows 10? This article will give you two simple solutions to solve, as follows.
Method 01 – Recover passwords from Microsoft account administration page
In Windows 10, you will have two options for your user account. Including logging in with your Microsoft account or using a local account exists only on your PC.
If you use a Microsoft account, you can easily reset your password by visiting Microsoft account recovery page and enter your username, then click follow the prompts to reset your password.
This is the easiest way if you set up appropriate recovery methods, such as backup email addresses and phone numbers.
Method 02 – Initialize Password Reset Disk
Each version of Windows that supports the Password Reset Disk feature. This is a feature that allows users to create a USB that acts as a backup key to unlock your account on Windows. The only requirement of this solution is that you must actively create before you just install a new Windows. This can be considered as a backup solution to prevent the future password from being forgotten.
To start, connect the USB to the computer and enter the "password reset" keyword in the search box, then click the result as shown.
The setup dialog box appears, click Next to start the configuration steps.
In the next interface, select the USB drive connecting to the computer and click Next.
Next you will be asked to enter the current password of the account you want to initialize the Reset password disk.
Once you have entered and clicked Next, Windows will initiate and turn your USB device into a drive that can reset the password on Windows 10.
The initialization process is very fast and you do not need to worry about the data in your USB because Windows does not reformat this USB.
The "product" we obtained is simply a rather small "userkey.psw" file that carries a "mission" to help you through "trouble" when having to "struggle" with the Windows 10 lock screen.
How to use Password Reset Disk
At the login screen, plug in the USB device you previously created (as above) and click the Reset password option. The welcome dialog appears, click Next to skip.
On the next screen, select the USB drive you just plugged in and click Next to continue.
And when you come here, Windows will recognize the data on the account that you intend to reset the password completely, you will be asked to enter a new password for the account.
Come here as if you can completely create a new password for yourself already.
Method 03 – Use password cracking software
As a last resort, you can try using a tool designed to unlock passwords. Ophcrack is a famous utility.
However, there is no guarantee that this software will work effectively because it is itself designed to crack passwords on Windows XP. In addition, its Live CD version is designed for Windows Vista and 7; it doesn't mention Windows 10, so supporting Windows 10 may not be official.
In addition to Ophcrack, other password cracking software such as OfflineNT Password And Registry Editor only work with short, weak passwords. If your administrator password is long and complicated, it may take a long time to recover using this method.
