The long-awaited conference dedicated to the PlayStation 5 will be held tonight at 10 p.m. Everyone is hoping that Sony will finally reveal the price and release date of the two models of the next-gen console. Here’s how to follow the conference live.
The hype is at its height! In a few hours, Sony will finally lift the veil on certain aspects of its next-gen console remained mysterious until now. The price and the release date are undoubtedly the most awaited information by players eager to pre-order the next-gen console. Pre-order registrations have been open for some time in the United States, but the pre-orders themselves are not yet available.
Where can I follow the conference live?
You can follow the conference live on the YouTube channel or the PlayStation Twitch channel from 10 p.m. tonight, Wednesday September 16, 2020. Sony has confirmed that the event will last about forty minutes and will unveil ” information on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our development partners ».
The Japanese manufacturer has therefore not officially confirmed that it will reveal the launch price and the release date of the PlayStation 5 and the PS5 Digital Edition. Still, there is almost no doubt given that the console arrives by the end of the year. Sony even plans to ship it across the Atlantic by air freight so as not to run out of stock. On the other hand, it seems that Sony has revised its expectations downwards since it could manufacture millions of consoles less than expected.
Will the PlayStation 5 crush the Xbox Series X?
Fans are even more eager to find out the event of the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition since Microsoft’s announcement last week. The latter effectively announced the Xbox Series S for a bargain price of $ 299. Don’t expect a similar price for the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition which is the 100% digital model of the next-gen console. It certainly won’t be able to beat or even match that price, as its only difference to the standard PS5 is the lack of a Blu-Ray drive while the Xbox Series S is significantly less capable than its big sister, the Xbox Series X.
Nonetheless, many expect that the PS5 Digital Edition costs around $ 100 less than the standard model, which would equal $ 399. Last month, a Carrefour leak revealed the same price. If so, that would be great news for players who could take advantage of 4K at 120 FPS on many games, including Rainbow Six Siege, for “only” $ 399. As a reminder, the Xbox Series X will release on November 10 at $ 499.
