Detail work

1: First remove the fuel tank.

2: After draining the coolant, remove the thermostat and water pipe.

*In the maintenance manual, the thermostat cannot be disassembled.

3: Remove the plug cover.

*It doesn’t seem necessary to unplug the power, but I took it apart.

4: Remove 6 cylinder head screws, and then remove the cylinder head.

5: Because the crank needs to be turned, please remove the coil cover.

6: Rotate the timing to align with the top dead center.

7: Measure the gap between the gasket and the valve rocker with a thickness gauge.

*When cylinder 4 is compression top dead center, the EX valve of cylinder 2 and cylinder 4 and the IN valve of cylinder 3 and cylinder 4 can be measured; when cylinder 1 is top dead center, the rest can be measured.

*Standard value of valve clearance.

EX: 0.18 to 0.24 mm, IN: 013 to 0.19 mm

8: Pick out the gasket with a tool, and then measure the thickness with a micrometer.

9: Replace the valve gasket that does not meet the standard with a suitable thickness.

10: Measure the valve clearance again and confirm that it is within the standard value.

11: Put the removed cylinder head and other items back to the original place, and finally add coolant.
