Oppo F17 Pro: Design
The first point that made a strong impression on me when holding the Oppo F17 Pro in my hand was its slim appearance and eye-catching back panel. With a body thickness of only 7.48mm and an overall weight of 164g, I can easily hold the device in my hand without much difficulty. The rear camera cluster of the device is designed in a square shape, with a total of 4 lenses placed above it.
The edge of the back is gently curved, forming a seamless block with the metal frame of the device. At certain lighting angles, the edge of the device reflects purple light. Along the right edge, the device is equipped with a power button and a volume up and down button cluster. The position of these two buttons is at a moderate threshold, bringing many conveniences during use. The SIM + microSD card slot of the device is located right above the volume up and down buttons.
The top edge of the device is only equipped with an auxiliary mic, while the bottom edge is home to a USB Type-C connector, an external speaker strip and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Oppo F17 Pro is equipped with a Super AMOLED screen with a diagonal size of 6.43 inches, Full HD + resolution, protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3+. The screen takes up a large part of the body area and is punched with a capsule-shaped hole in the left corner to make room for the selfie camera cluster. Thanks to the 20: 9 aspect ratio, the device has a slim appearance, allowing me to easily hold it in my hand.
Since there is no official water or dust resistance standard, you need to be extra careful when using the device. Overall, the Oppo F17 Pro is a phone with a high build quality and a good level of finishing.
Oppo F17 Pro: Screen
The screen of Oppo F17 Pro has a diagonal length of 6.43 inches, a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, corresponding to a pixel density of 408 ppi. The screen uses Super AMOLED panels with a common refresh rate of 60Hz. In a time when most mid-range phones on the market are supported with high screen refresh rates, the fact that Oppo F17 Pro uses 60Hz refresh rate will be a big minus point.
In addition to the above limitation, the screen of Oppo F17 Pro itself has very good display quality. Thanks to the use of high-quality Super AMOLED panels, the screen has high contrast, brilliant brightness and wide viewing angles.
Near the left corner of the screen is a hole in the shape of a capsule to make room for the selfie camera cluster. This camera cluster is not too large in size and will not affect the daily visual experience much.
Covered by a layer of tempered glass Corning Gorilla Glass 3+, the screen of F17 Pro is very resistant to scratches and stains.
Oppo F17 Pro: Camera
F17 Pro’s camera cluster is made up of 1 main lens with 48MP resolution, 1 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and 2 monochrome sensors with the same 2MP resolution. On the front, the selfie camera cluster of the device is made up of 1 16MP lens and 1 2MP lens.
Photos taken in daylight conditions have good colors, but details on the edges are slightly softened. The quality of HDR mode is not very stable, and I noticed that in many cases, photos taken from this mode have significantly reduced detail compared to the default mode.
The F17 Pro is not equipped with a dedicated camera for zooming in on the scene, but you can still take pictures at 2x or 5x distances through downsizing 48MP photos. Photos at the zoomed distance are quite good quality, but the detail will be significantly reduced when you switch to 5x mode, even when used in good lighting conditions. The image quality of the device will be significantly reduced if you use it in low light conditions.
The selfie photos are quite good quality with the 2-lens camera cluster on the front. The device is capable of recording videos with high detail when used in 1080p mode in daylight conditions. The camera cluster of the F17 Pro is on a par with the price segment, with the ability to take good pictures with the main camera cluster.
Oppo F17 Pro: Performance
F17 Pro is equipped with Mediatek Helio P95 chip and our review machine version is 8GB RAM. In terms of theoretical performance, the Helio P95 has the same power as the Snapdragon 730G. In real-world use, the F17 Pro has a smooth level of performance, with every app opening and closing quickly and seamlessly.
In the gaming segment, Oppo F17 Pro can play the Call of Duty: Mobile game at High configuration with a pretty good frame rate. During play, the body may warm up a bit, but it won’t affect the user experience much.
Testing the overall performance level with Geekbench, the F17 Pro scored single- and multi-core performance scores of 750 and 1351 points, respectively. This score is at the mid-range threshold in the segment. Overall, the F17 Pro is a phone with good performance, giving users a smooth user experience and little lag.
The under-screen fingerprint security of the device is not the fastest in the segment. Sometimes, I have to touch 2 to 3 times to start receiving fingerprints.
Oppo F17 Pro: Battery life
Oppo is one of the leading phone manufacturers in fast charging technology. Oppo F17 Pro is supported with VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 charging technology with a capacity of up to 30W. The charger that comes with the device is a large size, with the ability to charge the battery at high speed. The device can be fully charged from 0% in less than 1 hour.
Oppo F17 Pro is a phone with a long battery life, allowing you to comfortably use it without much worry. During our testing, the Oppo F17 Pro managed to last 11 hours and 22 minutes after continuous web surfing over wifi, with the screen brightness set at 150 nits.
Sold in the mid-range price segment, the Oppo F17 Pro is a model that does well in many ways, giving users a comprehensive experience. With good performance for the money, Oppo F17 Pro gives you a smooth using experience with most of the applications on the market. If you are looking for a quality device in the mid-range price segment, then Oppo F17 Pro will be a good choice.
