After several design hurdles, Samsung successfully launched its first foldable smartphone — the Galaxy Fold the company has started to tease its next foldable phone which looks much compact compared to the original Fold. At Samsung Developers Conference 2019 the company has showcased the upcoming foldable smartphone from the company.
Has A Punch Hole Display
Just like the Galaxy Note10 and the Note10 Plus the possible Galaxy W20 5G has a punch-hole display with an almost bezel-less design. The Galaxy Fold looks like a smartphone when folded and becomes a tablet when unfolded. The Samsung Galaxy W20 5G looks like a phone when unfolded and looks like a flip-phone when folded. As the name suggests the phone will also offer 5G networking capabilities as well.
Though we do not have the exact specs list of the Galaxy W20 5G the smartphone is likely to come with flagship-grade specifications. Besides, the phone will also borrow some of the features from the Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy Note10 as well.
If we closely look at the teaser the Galaxy W20 5G does not have an in-between when the phone is folded and the Galaxy Fold has one, where dust and debris can easily get in. It looks like the company is using a new display technology on the Galaxy W20 5G.
Is Folding Smartphone The Future?
It might be as more and more OEMs are working on their own iteration of foldable smartphones. With folding smartphones, a company can include a big screen without worrying about the form factor of the smartphone.
Unlike a regular smartphone, a folding smartphone uses plastic or a foldable material to protect the screen which is susceptible to scratches. Brands like Samsung are expected to solve this issue in the coming years where foldable smartphones like the Galaxy W20 5G could go mainstream.
