Fix 99% error AirDrop not working on iPhone / Macbook


A common problem on MacOS is Airdrop is not working And this usually happens when you try to send files from one Apple device to another Apple device. It is annoying and prevents data sharing between your devices. When you encounter such a situation, please use the following fixes to otherwise fix the error of sending data with AirDrop.

Make sure your devices can be found together

You need to make sure that both your iPhone and Mac can detect each other while using AirDrop.

1. On iPhone / iOS phones

Step 1. Launch the application Setting and click General (General).

Bring your devices together

AirDrop uses Bluetooth to find and connect devices. As you probably know, Bluetooth has a range of 10 meters to make a connection. Therefore, you should make sure that both your AirDrop-compatible devices are within 10 meters. Otherwise, AirDrop will not work.

Once you’re eligible, try sending your file again using AirDrop.

Make sure your iPhone is unlocked

While sharing files with your iPhone, make sure it’s unlocked and working. If it is in sleep mode and locked with a passcode, you will have trouble sending files from other devices to your iPhone.

Turn off and then re-enable WiFi and Bluetooth on your device

AirDrop uses both WiFi and Bluetooth to help you share files between your devices. When AirDrop isn’t working, you should try toggling these options and see if that fixes the problem for you.

AirDrop is not working when you have your personal hotspot turned on. This will make the Internet unavailable on devices that use your hotspot. You need to turn it off in order to use AirDrop to share files, and be able to re-enable it after completing your AirDrop file transfer.

Connect both of your devices to the same WiFi network

If your AirDrop-enabled devices are connected to a WiFi network, you should connect both of your devices to the same WiFi network. Apple doesn’t specifically say that both of your devices should be on the same network. However, in my personal experience, using the same network connection will help.

If possible, make sure both your iOS device and your Mac are on the same WiFi network.

Do not disturb will mute all notifications on your device, and this also includes AirDrop notifications. Since you will not receive notification for an incoming file, you will not be able to accept or decline it. Therefore, turn off do not disturb mode when you use AirDrop.

The Mac’s firewall has an option to block all connections to your machine. This can also affect the AirDrop connection, so you should disable this option.

Step 1. Click the Apple logo in the upper left corner of the screen and select System Preferences (System Preferences).

Step 4. If the buttons go gray on the screen, click the padlock icon at the bottom and enter your account password.

Step 5. Uncheck the box with content Block all incoming connections (Block all incoming connections) and press OK at the bottom.

Reset network settings on iPhone

If AirDrop still isn’t working on your iPhone, try resetting your network settings to factory settings. This will fix problems with network configurations, and you can reconfigure these options later.

Update your device’s operating system

Finally, make sure that both of your devices are running the latest version of their respective operating systems. If not, update their OS version and that will most likely fix the AirDrop not working issue.

1. Update iPhone
