YART Yamaha team led the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team and Suzuki Endurance Racing Team to take pole position. In the Superstock level, Team 33 Coyote Louit Moto beat Moto Ain by one point to get the best starting position.
The YART Yamaha team achieved pole position with a stable team. The three drivers-Karel Hanika, Marvin Fritz and Niccolò Canepa-all had single lap times below 1:37 on the Bugatti circuit. The Austrian Yamaha factory team has dominated the Leman stadium since yesterday and will start from pole position at 12 noon tomorrow (Saturday) for the 24 Heures Motos.
Nevertheless, today’s best performance is not YART Yamaha, but BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team. Markus Reiterberger announced the fastest qualifying lap time of 1:36.164, but nevertheless failed to break the 1:35.730 lap record set by Randy de Puniet in the 2017 24 Heures Motos qualifying. The Belgian factory team (Kenny Foray, Ilya Mikhalchik and Markus Reiterberger) will occupy second place in the qualifying.
The Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (Etienne Masson, Gregg Black and Xavier Simeon), the leaders of the provisional standings, will start from third place, second only to FCC TSR Honda France’s Josh Hook, Freddy Foray and Mike di Meglio. For the Japanese Honda team, this may be a tricky game because Josh Hook was injured in practice but is expected to be allowed to participate in the game. HONDA No. 5 is ahead of the ERC Endurance DUCATI factory team controlled by Randy de Puniet, Julien da Costa and Louis Rossi.
VRD Igol Pierret Experiences once again successfully entered the ranks of favorites to win. Florian Alt, Florian Marino and Mathieu Gines will drive YAMAHA 333 from 6th on the grid. They temporarily lead The defending champion Webike SRC Kawasaki France Trickstar.
The Kawasaki team is currently recovering from a heart attack due to team manager Gilles Stafler. Despite his blessing, the team is still trying to adapt to the new Michelin tires.
In the top ten after qualifying, there are three ambitious teams: Tati Team Beaujolais Racing, Wójcik Racing Team and National Motos.
The fastest Team 33 Coyote Louit Moto (Kawasaki) will start from 11th place, ahead of the temporarily leading Moto Ain (Yamaha) and GERT56 by GS Yuasa (BMW).
The 43rd 24 Hours of Endurance Race will start at 12 noon on August 29 (Saturday) by Suzuki Endurance Racing Team manager Dominique Meliand.
