Vincent Philippe is one of the most symbolic drivers in the FIM EWC World Endurance Championship. Since participating in the FIM EWC in 2003, he has been the mainstay of the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team. He also ranked 24th in the same year (2003). Win the Heures Motos and win the World Endurance Championship.

The French driver decided to retire at the age of 42 and announced his retirement after nearly 30 years of racing after winning the 2019 Bol d’ Or Open.

Follow us this time to pay tribute to the champion and ask him 10 questions.
Zh
First motorcycle
My father occasionally rented me a 50cc Pee. I was only 6 or 7 years old and I would ride around the house a few times. Then I have a 50cc Morini and a 103 Peugeot with a racing kit.
Zh
First match
I used to compete in mountain climbing with my father. The first closed race on the track was in 1992. I participated in my first season in Coupe TZR 125 when I was 14 years old.
Zh
“I want to be the champion” for the first time
That was my dream when I was 11 years old when I was in middle school. After going to high school, I had to re-read for one year because I dreamed of pursuing this dream, but I still made up for it and got a diploma.
Zh
Your idol rider
My bedroom is full of motorcycle and rider posters such as Mick Doohan, Kevin Schwantz, and Wayne Rainey. I have always admired Mick Doohan, and then Valentino Rossi appeared, and I once played against him in the 125cc competition in Le Castellet in 1997.
Zh
The deepest game memories
This problem is hard! Because every game in these years has been quite profound for me, if I want to say, it is probably my first victory at 24 Heures Motos when I played for SERT in 2003! That was my first time joining SERT and my first title. In addition, the annual championship I won with Anthony Delhalle in 2016 and the victory in the Bol d’ Or opening game last year (2019) are equally unforgettable.
Zh
Worst game memories
The day Anthony Delhalle crashed, it will always be the memory I least want to remember, and I still have a hard time talking about it. Apart from that, the worst thing is that you must quit the race during the race due to injuries or vehicle failures that prevent you from continuing.
Zh
If I can do it again
I am not a person who will discuss “if”, because I will only look forward and will not regret anything. But to be honest, maybe not participating in the full WSBK season is a minor regret in my driver’s career.
Zh
Your advice for young drivers
work hard! Maybe at the beginning, motorcycle racing is fun and cool, but if you want to participate in high-level racing, you must work hard and persevere, and also be able to find the resources you need. If you don’t work hard or don’t have the resources, the road will be quite difficult, so young drivers must maintain their convictions and continue to work hard.
Zh
You have participated in road races, endurance races, super endurance races, off-road racing, ice racing and Le Touquet beach racing so far. What other events do you want to participate in next?
I have been interested in rallying for a long time, and I know it is dangerous and requires a lot of preparation, but it is a personal and physical challenge for me, so I will do my best to prepare. This year I opened a motorcycle dealership in Besançon, but next year (2021), I will be ready to participate in the 2022 Dakara Rally.
Zh
From the driver to the dealer owner, how do you cope with the change of pace?
Although I focused all my attention on dealers, I did not completely give up participating in motorcycle races. I have decided to participate in the Dhaka Rally in 2022, so I hope I can participate in 2 or 3 races this year (2020). The competition allows the body to remember how it felt when participating in the competition. I also plan to organize some knight training courses, etc., to make a contribution to the motorcycle industry.
