Experience iPadOS: A lot of changes in usage, become a better working device

I have a whole morning to experience the new iPadOS, this is a completely independent OS of the iPad compared to the past under the iOS platform with iPhone and iPod.

About the interface

Like iOS 13, iPadOS also supports darkmode, which is set in the section setting – settings & display, We can switch the interface bright and dark depending on the person. Like me, in the morning, when the background is bright, the evening opens the dark background because the basic dark mode in the morning will reveal many fingerprints on the screen.

The home interface is more spacious, the icon is smaller, and you notice that the widgets section will be displayed in parallel with home, no longer on the separate page. This will help all information be displayed directly on the home, along with the user will customize with more widgets.

Mouse support

This is the best thing available on the iPadOS, now you imagine the iPad will be like a miniature laptop, all pressing and tapping actions have replaced with the circular pointer inside the screen. As long as you attach the mouse via a USB-C hub, the iPad will receive it. Note you must enter Settings (settings) – accessibility (Accessibility) – Touch – AssistiveTouch to open the switch.

It is essentially AssistiveTouch so the mouse pointer is quite large, it occupies an area like the tip of a finger touching the screen. If only it was a little smaller, ok.

The feeling of scrolling and surfing is quite good, like a normal mouse. However, if you want to highlight the text, double-click it twice.

Split View

Split view manipulation as usual but the most valuable point is that you can split 1 application for more manipulation space. For example, I am in the note application and when I open Split View I have added a part of the screen to work with Apple Pencil, the other part is for typing.

New tip: You can highlight a text then use 3 clawed fingers to quickly copy and swipe 3 fingers to paste.

Multitask right on the 2nd app

For example, I have a second app running on a background app, I will swipe the bottom to switch the app (Multitasking) with the same way to swipe on iPhone X / XR / Xs.

Also from the second app, when opening the virtual keyboard display, you use 2 hands to "zoom out" to the keyboard layout to turn the virtual keyboard interface into a mini key, swipe anywhere on the part to have SMS can be operated with one hand.

Safari

You use Safari on iPadOS to be 95% identical to Safari on a Mac computer, I like the best when downloading a file, the download section will be displayed separately on the right corner of the screen, when downloading and opening the file (docx ; PDF; …) will be previewed for users.

Supported external hard drive (iPad Pro 2018)

Although there is a USB-C port, in the past, the 2018 iPad Pro was quite a "cocoon" of data transfer devices and external hard drives. However, with the iPadOS that has been resolved, USB-C from the iPad will now have real value, just as you can mount multiple hubs, the adapter out to port C.

That's what I share basically on iPadOS, of course we will try more details, such as combining it with macOS Catalina for example. In short, this is a big step for iPad users, thanks to iPadOS, I believe the distance between Apple tablet and laptop will be shortened even further …
