French-Vietnamese tennis player Antoine Hoang has just beaten Spanish general Tommy Robredo in qualifying tennis Australian Open 2021.
The first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open 2021, is only a few weeks away, and now it’s time for low-ranked players to qualify. Most recently, French-Vietnamese tennis player Antoine Hoang has just impressed when he beat a famous name.
Specifically, the opponent that has just been beaten by Antoine Hoang is Tommy Robredo, the old Spanish general who is 38 years old this year. Tommy Robredo in his peak form was a name familiar to his lover ball felt all over the world. The highest position that the Spaniard has ever achieved is No. 5 on the ATP rankings in 2006.
But now, Robredo has passed his prime for a long time and that is why he had to play qualifying. With a younger age and a much higher ATP rank (Antoine Hoang ranked 121 in the world and Tommy Robredo class 226 world), Vietnamese players do not have too many difficulties to hit lose former world number 5.
Antoine Hoang easily subdued his opponent 6-1 in the first set. Robredo with his experience caused a little bit of difficulty for the 25-year-old in set 2, but in the end still had to lose 5-7.
With an impressive victory over Robredo, Antoine Hoang will enter the second qualifying round to clash with French tennis player Arthur Rinderknech.
