While it seemed that For The King would reign on its own as free game of the week, here it is joined by Metro Last Light Redux. They will both stay available for free on the platform until February 11 at 5 p.m., date when they will be replaced by Halcyon 6, a retro space role-playing game.
Metro Last Light Redux
Maybe you took the opportunity to get it back via the GOG platform, which also offered it at the end of last year. For those who have missed the metro, now is the time to catch up.
Metro Last Light, originally released in 2013, is the second opus adapted from the post-apocalyptic dystopian literary work written by Dmitri Glukhovski. The game made us play as Artyom, protagonist of the novels and one of the 40,000 inhabitants of the Moscow metro who survived a nuclear war that devastated a large part of the planet twenty years earlier.
A simply cult first-person adventure / survival game, Metro Last Light takes players into its freezing and sublime universe at the same time. Especially since this is the Redux version that is offered, with improved graphics and all the additional content. A Definitive Edition, in short. We allow ourselves to insist, but this game is a gem, which in addition will (perhaps) open the doors to a literary universe to discover.
Now heading for space with the game which will be available for free on the Epic Games Store from February 11, Halcyon 6.
In the distant future, mankind came together to form the New Terran Federation. An organization that is challenged by the imminent arrival of a mysterious alien force that threatens the earth. As an agent of the NTF, you are propelled to the edge of Terran space where Halcyon 6 is located, a space base abandoned by a mysterious species of precursor beings. This base is the New Terran Federation’s best chance to build new alliances, research new technology, and stop the impending invasion. Your mission: to take back this dilapidated base and rebuild it.
By mixing the construction of bases and ships, like a space strategy game, with clashes and team management as in a role-playing game, Halcyon 6 offers a rich and complex experience. In addition in a universe which will not fail to recall Mass Effect and Star Trek, but passed to retro / Pixel-art mill. This is what makes you want.
Like Metro Last Light Redux, Halcyon 6 will also be offered in a more advanced version called Lightspeed Edition, bringing new character classes, new missions and many other improvements over the base version.
Metro Last Light Redux is available for free on the Epic Games Store until February 11 at 5 p.m., where it will be replaced by Halcyon 6.
