Billionaire Elon Musk who has just given way as the richest man in the world to Jeff Bezos is playing Cyberpunk 2077 in his spare time. During a podcast of The Joe Rogan Experience, Elon Musk made a surprising revelation on Cyberpunk 2077. He notably explained that cybernetic implants CD Projekt RED’s open world gameplay reminds him of those developed by Neuralink.

Do Cyberpunk 2077 implants represent our future?

Founded by Elon Musk, Neuralink is an American startup specializing in the development of brain implants. Moreover, the American billionaire would have installed a Neuralink implant in the skull of a monkey so that he can play video games. During the podcast, Elon Musk said that: “ I was playing Cyberpunk 2077, the game, and I thought it was pretty similar to what we’re doing. Like, is this the future of implants? It might end up happening. I’m just saying for now it’s gonna help the people who really need it ».

For now, Neuralink implants are aimed at helping patients who have suffered from brain or spinal cord injury. For example, these implants could help visually impaired people regain their sight and paraplegics and quadriplegics regain use of their limbs. Last year, a Neuralink implant was installed in a pig’s brain to measure its brain activity and transmit information wirelessly.

Elon Musk therefore acknowledged that the cybernetic implants depicted in Cyberpunk 2077 could possibly be part of our future. Of course, this is not for the near future. The boss of Tesla and SpaceX added during the podcast that you are not going to wake up one day with an implant in your body. He confirmed that “You will see it coming “. He is therefore not against the idea of having implants in healthy people to improve their physical condition, for example.
